Pike County Bowl?
I was told that the big noseguard broke his leg and still hasn't recovered, I'm sorry to hear that, he was a big ole boy.

Pike County Bowl?
One thing is they had Valley and Central playing other schools for a couple years and they got killed every year. I mean no offense to them but neither is on the level to play those teams and draw the big crowd. Valley is getting closer. But another reason why scheduling is so hard is due to gas and they are so many bowl games now that it seems like everybody plays in a bowl.

The Valle/East Ridge and Belfry/HC game is at Valley on Friday night.

2008 Belfry
Yeah I knew of several teams not wanting to play them for whatever reason, but I don't know if they contacted Rock. I never heard if they did. But I would really really like that game.

'79 Semifinals: Belfry 14 Highlands 8
By the way Boom just to tell you how bad both communities are for football, I wasn't even born at the time and remember stuff from the game lol.

'79 Semifinals: Belfry 14 Highlands 8
Yeah, Highlands like to get the other team to gather on the field and blow the cannon off for intimidation purposes. Belfry wasn't going out on the field until after Highlands came out.

2008 Belfry
I wished Belfry could get a stronger schedule, but in their offense they tried, but you cant force teams to play you. I dont understand why teams wouldnt jump at the opportunity to play such a qualitly opponent like Belfry. I can understand teams a great distance away. But look at a team like PBurg. If they would have scheduled Belfry the last two years, it would have benifited them probably more than it would have Belfry. The competition would be as strong or stronger than any team they faced in the playoffs. Not even to metnion the gate the game brings. I'm not throwing stones at one team, but that is just a team that came to mind that Belfry tried to get a game with.

2008 Belfry
With more possible depth upfront on the defensive line than linebacker, look for Corey Coleman to move to linebacker. I really think Belfry will have to make that move, but Coleman is the kind of kid who can play anywere.

Pike County Bowl moved to Shelby Valley on Fri. night
It will never be moved from Pikeville period. Because the bank towers behind it and is great advertisement. But I have no problem with that one its logic. I wished since they took it out of Belfry they would atleast put Belfry and Pikeville together on same night.

Dustin May to Georgetown?
He is in fact going to Georgetown, from my understanding UK and Marshall both offered perferred walk ons but no schollys, in my opinion they missed the boat, but maybe Im biased. But I think he has the speed to go with size. But G'Town is a incrediable school that has it going on and this is a big honor, for both May and the Tigers.

Belfry's Schedule for 2008
Yeah I realize it is a dream but it is just one I would like to see. As far as the others I would love to see us go to Wheeling Park and see us play Wheeling Central Catholic. I see these guys play nearly every single year, and I could tell you they couldn't handle the physical play of Belfry. They would be a huge turn out from Mingo and Logan County WV to watch those guys go down to a school their own size. But then again that is another dream. I still wished a Bell County or somebody would have stepped up to the plate. I also would not be upset with a Letcher Central series, first class place to play and those guys are doing things right.

Belfry's Schedule for 2008
Yeah its not that much difference but Parkersburg would be a heck of a game, those guys would be good for us to play.

Belfry's Schedule for 2008
Belfry tried Bell County, they didn't want to travel that far, that would have been perfect. They tried Tolsia and Wayne WV (two good WV opponents) but a loss in West Virginia is rough due to playoff systems. They tried several otehr top opponents also, I know they tried Prestonsburg and a couple of others. The only school I heard is trying to play them this year is Logan West Virginia, they will move to 3A and have to improve their schedule, they have nice speed but it still would be a 30-40 point Belfry win. I wouldnt mind seeing Belfry and Letcher Central work something out.

Belfry's Schedule for 2008
Belfry tried to upgrade their schedule last season, but nobody would play. It is a rough situation because Haywood loves to play challenging schedule, they do still got JC game which is a good game for them, I just wished Belfry could get one tough opponent in the place of the East Carter or the Shelby Valey game, but I say Belfry will honor the contract next season with those schools and then not resign after that, as long as they can get a challenging opponent.

Will Ivan Lee(BELFRY) become the next big thing
Ivan will be a stud and I have no doubt he will step up, I'm excited about Charlie Dotson to, that kid is such a work horse.

Will Ivan Lee(BELFRY) become the next big thing
He lost more than that actualy, because he gained a bunch of weight first. One of the coaches told me they had to tell him if he didn't loose wait they would have to put him on the line, early Summer Ivan got real big. He dropped his weight after the team started working out and practicing, he was put on a diet. Ivan will be the first to tell you he can get lazy. His speed is the most impressive thing to me as well. One thing he needs to do is work on hitting the hole harder and stay in shape, if he works hard all Summer he will drop even more weight and pick up more speed. Best thing about Ivan though is his personality, one of the funniest kids you will ever be around.

Will Ivan Lee(BELFRY) become the next big thing
He is number 2 and was a junior. In my opinion Ivan could be as good as he wants to be. He was already a big part of the success, Im not for sure exactly what it was but his yard per carrry ratio was amazing. Ivan needs to really work hard this summer though, I felt he got lazy last summer, he needs to push him self ad if he does that then come fall he will be a force to be reckoned with.

Project a match-up
07 might have won, but we all know the refs cheated and blew it for the 05 team in this game.

Tough schedules ...
From what I was told by coaching staff, Bell said it was to far to travel. Belfry even offered to come to Belfry this past year and then them travel this season. But if you can come to Inez, why is Belfry to far? And Im not dogging Bell for not coming, just wondering why? I would love to see the match-up, it would be a very fun game. I would like to see Belfry add a good power team like Bell, and then a very atheletic team that spreads ball out, just to prepare them for everything that they may face.

Tough schedules ...
Oh yeah I lnow that. Logan is wanting to get Belfry on their shcedule, because they jumped to 3A, but thatt still wouldn't be much of a step up from the schedule now IMO.

Central 27 Belfry 17
The one I was talking about was when Central fumbled in the first half and Belfry recovred at like the 10. I cant remember if that was on a punt or on third down. I know Belfry tackled the punter once on like the 30 or so, and then gave it back by fumble. Neither team was getting good snaps to the punter in this game, I new something bad would happen on a punt for somebody.

Tough schedules ...
Here is the thing with us mountain teams. Belfry tried to get Bell County, they wouldn't work out a deal due to travel, but played SC. Tried to work out a dealw ith WV powers but they wouldn't. We pretty much played who we could. We are at a geographical disadvantage in getting a schedule like Central has, I know Haywood loves to play those kind of games.

Central 27 Belfry 17
They fumbled the ball deep once and Belfry scored, then the fumbled the kick off return on like the 40. Then Belfry got a field goal out of that. The one interception that Belfry intercepted deep if Im not mistaken Central was on about the 40 still yet but was a deep pass. Belfry two TO were so costly though as the one at the end of the half Central scored on the return which completely changed all of the momentum, and gave Central the lead. Which by the way that was a good call, he just got hit when he threw it. The second one Belfry was about to score and take the lead so that one was huge, Central drove ball back down and scored to seal the deal. I believe if Belfry would have not had but just one of those they would have one. Here is the thing though, neither team really had any unforced turnover, seven turnovers, and could have been more, all because of GREAT defenses. If you would have told any Belfry fan they would have won the TO battle, outgain them, and control Time of Possesion I would have put my house up we would have won.

Central 27 Belfry 17
By the way this coming form a Belfry fan, we can gripe about calls and yeah it was a poorly officiated game, a lot not called both ways that should have been. But I just everybody to know that I am not trying in any way to inidcate that officiating costed Belfry a game, what costed Belfry a game was mistake after mistake, and I give Central credit because they forced some of those mistakes. A lot of off-sides was not called this game, Belfry backs were in motion a lot, and Central lined up alomost farther back that the O-line sometimes, I mean I seen some plays were they were back there bfore the QB, so a lot of missed calls all around, BOTH sides, but I would never take anything away from Central, you guys deserve this title, but we will be back!
