Will Ivan Lee(BELFRY) become the next big thing

Featured Replies

The Kid can flat out play.

Will he be the feature back next season?

Will he become a major force on defense?

STUD!!!!

STUD!!!!

The studs jersey number and grade? I saw Belfry play a couple of times this year but that name does not ring a bell to me.

He is number 2 and was a junior.

In my opinion Ivan could be as good as he wants to be. He was already a big part of the success, Im not for sure exactly what it was but his yard per carrry ratio was amazing.

Ivan needs to really work hard this summer though, I felt he got lazy last summer, he needs to push him self ad if he does that then come fall he will be a force to be reckoned with.

What was his height and weight?

He needs to run hard and not tip-toe through the line of scrimmage. He does that the skies the limit, but he had a tendency not to hit the hole hard against teams that laid the wood...........

He is about 6 foot and somewhere in the 225-230 range. His speed is what impresses many for a big guy, he can move. His defensive end play is very good as well.
I felt he got lazy last summer,

Based on what? Why do you say he was lazy in the summer?

He lost about 20 pounds and picked up a step or two. It appeared he must have worked all summer to do that.

Ivan also is a first class kid. Academics will not be an issue for Ivan, he is very smart, very sociable, and just an all-around excellent student athlete.

I actually see Ivan thinning down a little bit more and gaining some more speed next year, he also isn't finished growing. I expect him to end up around 6'1 220 before he leaves high school. As Watusi said, his speed is what is amazing for a kid his size. In the state championship game look back at the punt where Belfry stopped Lou. Central for about a 15 yard loss on the return, that was Lee who came flying down field like a rocket and made the play.

Lee will definately be the efature back, and with three other very capable runners (Dotson, Thomas Varney, and Elkins) I expect him to finish with around 1500-1700 yards. Ivan's focus has to be getting quicker, improving his pad level, and working on his agility so he can make cuts better.

Defensively, he was solid all season, I expect him to be dominant at DE next year.

I won't go on record saying UK is recuiting him, but he was on the field for the LSU game with the recruits alongside May.

I thought he weighed a lot more than that. Didn't he used to be like 250ish?

He's one of those kids that is even bigger when you see him up close.

He lost more than that actualy, because he gained a bunch of weight first. One of the coaches told me they had to tell him if he didn't loose wait they would have to put him on the line, early Summer Ivan got real big. He dropped his weight after the team started working out and practicing, he was put on a diet. Ivan will be the first to tell you he can get lazy.

His speed is the most impressive thing to me as well. One thing he needs to do is work on hitting the hole harder and stay in shape, if he works hard all Summer he will drop even more weight and pick up more speed. Best thing about Ivan though is his personality, one of the funniest kids you will ever be around.

He is one of best backs i seen this year, and he is a bell ringer. he is also a quick back on offence and on defense he is the stud!!

Ivan will be a stud and I have no doubt he will step up, I'm excited about Charlie Dotson to, that kid is such a work horse.
