They should feel fortunate to escape. If Bethlehem had a little more time, or they get that onside kick late, they probably spring the upset. Eagles got two INTs and a fumble recovery, and got stops on downs four other times.

They almost did. Bethlehem was up 7-6 at half, but CC scored 27 straight in the 3rdQ. CC also had a TD pass overturned that could have put them up 40-7, but the gadget play had too many forward passes. Bethlehem scored 20 straight in the 4thQ, and thought they got the onside kick after scoring with about 2 minutes left, but a flag dropped against them and CC ran the clock out. Pretty wild game. I half thought it would end up a 20-19 game the way the first half went.

I’m great with that given we lose an hour on the way back.

From what info I was given, TNHS had a hard time converting first downs. They were also without their fullback, but that likely doesn't close that gap that much.

The Bluebirds’ D was outstanding. Just not many shot chances for Bethlehem, and in my years of watching this group, that doesn’t happen often. Salute to the Banshees for an outstanding season, the best in school history, and also a salute to their seniors, who were instrumental in elevating the school’s girls’ soccer program to unprecedented heights. Gonna miss that bunch. Thanks for the memories! :thumb:

So how is this setting up for the Friday tiebreaker in D5? I always struggle with the formula and whether in-district games count or not. Need to know where I’ll be going first round.

Bethlehem will face Henderson Co. in Saturday’s quarterfinals just like they did 4 years ago when they made it to the SFs before falling. Key seniors Maddie Sparks, Abigail Proctor and Jordan Cross each bounced back from injuries that cost them minutes to play huge roles. Sparks had a goal and 2 assists and Proctor scored. Cross’ return on defense helped the Banshees hold the Chargers scoreless over the final 20 minutes. Senior Carly Beam got the first goal in the first minute, then the eventual GW with 21 minutes left.

The Banshees got out to a 3-0 lead early, then had to weather a comeback and some key injuries to hold off the Chargers and advance.

Welp, guess that settles it.
