  1. Never saw him play in person in HS, but I was still living in NoKy at the time and fondly recall how glorious his HS highlights were, and how the Cincy TV stations had to hold their nose and come across the river to Ky to cover Highlands during his days. The footage was just too good, with him bouncing would-be tacklers off of him like he was playing against 6-year-olds.
  2. Shout out to the St. Joe Prep Eagles — Undefeated since 1968!
  3. Dang, I didn't think they'd have them yet. I went by the one by Haines' on Saturday. Had I known that, we'd have stopped.
  4. UDF will have the peach shakes soon. I am always up that way at least once during July so I can get my yearly fix.
  5. Weird in that the very next day they dropped it back down to $2.42, and today it's $2.35.
  6. I got it for $2.42 yesterday in Bardstown and was shocked to see it for $2.79 when I came off the BG headed to Lexington. Had to go back this morning and Bardstown had bumped it to $2.59.
  7. Raegan Franklin of North Oldham set the new 2A pole vault record at 12-03. Screwed up and posted this in the wrong thread. Sorry for the mess. Anyway, this girl was impressive. I think she had attempts left but it wasn’t restarted after the first rain delay.
  8. Dad’s old ‘65 Olds F-85 with three on the tree rusted apart before I ever got a chance to drive it, sadly. But I learned on my uncle’s Celica and later my own Datsun 210 wagon, including how to shift gears without the clutch. And dad’s old 74 Dodge truck with a granny gear. Got to drive an old 3/tree maintenance truck when working summer job at Big Bone park. My 98 VW Golf has been broke down for 6 years so that was my last regular driving on a manual. But I can still do it and miss it.
  9. Toss-up between following too closely and just general inattentiveness, via cellphone or otherwise.
  10. I'm just imagining the flavor explosion in your mouth if you mixed all three like you would with different color Skittles.
  11. Tiger winning today was one of the biggest things ever. Like when Agassi bounced back and started winning or contending in all majors. Daggone Brooke Shields. Seeing the old warriors come back and win while old and overcoming a lot of “issues” is always fun.
  12. Mostly bleu cheese, but that sweet vidalia onion dressing you're talking about is quite good. It's especially good for marinading chicken breasts before grilling.
  13. Are Plastic Bag Bans Garbage? : Planet Money : NPR Interesting story on NPR earlier this week. Of note is how the purchases of plastic bags shot up once stores started phasing out the plastic bags because more people used them for other purposes beyond just carrying out groceries. While I understand their drawbacks environmentally, the only time I don’t reuse a bag multiple times is if it tears.
  14. I once watched Wild Man Walker castigate the Bengals reporters in the press box for cheering. I laughed because, well, it was Wild Man Walker, but he was totally right.
  15. Tough shooting for the Bethlehem girls — they had similar struggles in their two games at the All A Classic on the open end at McBrayer. If the Banshees could have hit just one or two more shots in the 4thQ they might have pulled out the win. Their defense and rebounding did the job, as they won the turnover battle and the battle on the glass, generating 22 more shot attempts. Regardless, a great season for Bethlehem, the best by far in school history. They should be well-positioned to defend their title in the 5th, but obviously Bardstown and E'town will provide stout challenges.
  16. He's 31 actually, and 5-10 receivers who rely on lateral quickness don't age well. And the Steelers were happy to take whatever they could get, I guess. I would've felt better with one of the Raiders' round 1 picks, but I'm just glad for the nightmare to be over. And now Steelers fans have a new nightmare to deal with: Cleveland being good.
  17. That’s possible, but maybe not. While Bethlehem doesn’t have much of a history of girls’ hoops success, most of the girls on the team also play for their very successful soccer team, so they are not strangers to the big stage. Getting in a couple games at the All A Classic also helps.
  18. Indeed, especially given the three outstanding seniors graduated from last year's squad.
