  1. There was another situation somewhat similar to this in Lincoln Co. last week.
  2. This. And this. But the idea that a K-9 officer — who works exclusively with one particular animal — can go and defuse any situation with an out-of-control dog, is crazy. But how much damage can a daggoned rat dog do?
  3. I've also said this lots of times on here over the years, but it bears repeating: The AP polls and All-State and other recognitions they do are severely limited in their scope and breadth. Only media outlets that subscribe to the AP service — i.e., pay for it — are eligible to vote in the weekly polls and the season-ending All-State teams. It's a very expensive service, and most small media outlets can't (or won't) afford it. As a result, AP voters are clustered around the state's largest population centers. As another result, those All-State teams and weekly polls tend to be heavily biased toward athletes/teams from the state's larger population centers. Don't read this as me taking a swipe at Aaron and what his team does at the ADI. I totally get it from his standpoint. Given the limited number of voters around the state, nobody else is going to vote for the kids from their area.
  4. Josh has zero control over deadline times just like Frakes has no control over the C-J's deadline times, just like any of the rest of us in that line of work has no control over deadlines. Has nothing to do with each paper's "commitment to sports." Those earlier deadline times come from places far above their — and even their publishers' — pay grade. This is what the corporatization of journalism has brought us. Anymore, layout for these papers is done by a centralized hub (I think it's still the IndyStar for the C-J; not sure about the H-L) that has several papers lined up to lay out each day. It's why unless a game is done by 8pm, it doesn't make it into the next day's issue.
  5. Two starters sat out v. Spencer Co. They started out the season with their top PG out for several weeks. Then their top returning scorer went out for several games — he was out again Wednesday. Their top big man has been out since before Christmas with an ankle injury. It's a rash that's hitting the local boys' teams. Bardstown has had four different starters spend time sidelined with injuries. Thomas Nelson has had three guys out for various lengths of time.
  6. That locker room misses Harrison. There’s been nobody to fill the void.
  7. Tomlin hasn’t had much control of the locker room for some time now (if ever?). And it has allowed the Bell and Brown stuff to fester.
  8. I’m told Bardstown was without a 3-year starting forward who is the team leader, in addition to having Traynor get hurt. They’ve battled a ton of injuries all year.
  9. People aren’t going to games like they used to because there are a lot more distractions available to people entertainment-wise that weren’t there 25 years ago. Stall ball has a negligible affect on that decline. Same here. True hoops fans appreciate seeing a good strategy executed in a high-pressure championship environment. That’s who goes to the Sweet 16. This is what I keep coming back to. I’ve seen exactly one game in the past decade, and two in the past 20 that would legitimately be a stall ball game where a team ran 4 corners all game. I watch more HS hoops than the average person. Where do all these stall ball games happen? Nowhere near me. Sure, you might see a team hold for the last shot the final minute of a game or half, but that’s about it. Both 1) and 2) are things I highly agree with. I’ll add 3) HS hoops teams already throw out some abysmal FG shooting numbers. Add a shot clock and there will be a lot of 18-for-65 overall and 3-for-30 on three nights.
  10. Sorry, just saw this. I'm actually out of town on vacation. Go to Mammy's Kitchen for breakfast/lunch. There's a store called Toddy's Liquors just a half a block from Mammy's. Should have most everything you need.
  11. Nelson Co. has had a rough start with three different staters missing multiple games to injuries. They’ll fall off this list once they get healthy.
  12. Does anybody have a bracket for this tournament they could post? I can't seem to find one anywhere.
  13. Bethlehem is off to what is believed to be the best start in school history at 7-0.
  14. Honestly, with all the penalties, I thought NE was trying to give it to us, but I questioned whether we would be able to take advantage of it. Shoulda won by 10+.
  15. A local realtor's office in downtown Bardstown. I was away from our office when it happened. Apparently, among the email bomb threats across the country was one that went to Sandy Hook school, six years to the day after the mass shooting there.
  16. So we had a local business a half-block away from my office that received an email bomb threat demanding money or they would detonate a bomb there. They evacuated the business and police investigated and found nothing. Turns out, it's going on all across the country. Bitcoin scammers. Bomb threats emailed to multiple locations across the country - CNN
  17. Blame Buddy Bell for that. And Graig Nettles and Gary Gaetti.
  18. Was just 27-20 at half. Trinity started pressing and trapping to start the second half and blew it open. Bardstown was down two starting guards with injuries. Johnson scored 20 in about 2 1/2 quarters of work.
  19. Things had settled at $1.98-1.99 for several days, but they seem to be climbing back up at some spots today in Bardstown.
  20. I'd say driving to Glasgow is a better trip for Meade Co. than going down to the south end of BG like when Greenwood was in their district.
  21. Was there a stat adjustment? Could swear I saw 108 earlier.
  22. With five of six games being one-score margins, yep. Don’t recall that ever happening.
  23. Yes. Ruben Foster got signed same season.
