Russell wins with a running clock.

Doubt it. TNHS gave Belfry some problems in the first round last year. They have a talented, senior-laden group, and matchup well with what I see from Russell on film. Russell is better, but I don't see running clock.

Its a battle of history verses new when Russell hosts Thomas Nelson in the first round of the playoffs. Russell won state championships in 1978 and 2005 while Thomas Nelson played in their first ever playoff game last season. They've never met in the postseason.

It'll be interesting to see if Landon Duvall plays for Russell.

I would be really surprised to see Duvall play. I really doubt he will IMO.

Given the TNHS style, if they avoid turnovers they figure to be close in the 4th. I would bet on the under hitting.

I take it you mean a methodical, ball control, three yards and a cloud of dust style? From what little bit of film I've seen, it looks like they run some wing-t. Other than that, I know precisely jack squat about Thomas Nelson.

There really isn’t that much of a difference in the styles of offense between to the two. Thomas Nelson runs the Wing T. Kyle Boblitt, their head coach, played under Mark Brown and runs it just as he does- . They’ve rushed for over 2,000 yards and thrown for over 800.

Russell, who runs many of the same schemes just chooses to do it from the gun being a TFS program.

One chooses to do things under center, which often comes w some unfair negative connotations while the other takes a snap from 4-5 yards deeper.

Put me in the camp that will be shocked to see this one blown open by either squad. If it is, it’s due to one or the other getting turnover happy.
