Trinity wins this game handily. This may be a young Trinity team but they play like they are a seasoned team ready for the playoffs. Trinity has a good solid team with skill position players that are difference makers against most high school teams.

If the reciever of the middle screen pass is behind the line of scrimmage, there is no infraction for linemen down field and or blocking down field when the ball is in the air, nevertheless 2 forward passes is obviously an infraction

There was a thoroughbred bowl in 90 or 91 against Bell County that Highlands lost. Dont know the score, but I believe the game was forfeited by Bell County after the season for playing an illegal player

Thanks for the post JBWill2. Back in 1943 they declared a Greater Cincinnati Champion, and Highlands was declared the champion based on its victory over Cincinnati St. Xavier who was undefeated. In this same year highlands was selected as one of the 2 best teams in Kentucky and invited to play Ashland for the state championship in I believe the Rotary Bowl. Highlands won that game becoming KY State Champions. Since they did not have a playoff system in place they attached the word "mythical". 2009 Highlands is the best team in Cincinnati. We will have to see if they are the best team in Kentucky, but they have a good shot at it.

The big difference between Cincy St. X and Colerain this year is that St. X is 16 points better. CF - don't need to ask Dale.

IMO the spread offense and the 3-4 defense are tough systems for youngsters to learn. As they get older and learn this offense and defensive scheme, they get more adept at it and can do more things with it. At the freshman level it is much easier to line up in the power I or a wing T and pound the ball at the other team, especially running at the 3-4 defense which again in my opinion takes modifying to stop the off tackle play which Highlands may not have all the adjustments in place at the freshman level. I would summarize by saying that maybe the systems of offense and defense the different teams learn and or use could handicap or help them at this level.

Opposing teams will certainly wish he was only playing defensive back!:scared:

The most memorable moment personally for me was watching Jim Green win the 100 yard dash sub 10 seconds the 200 yard dash, and the 440 yard dash 47.?. What a phenomenal runner . The year I believe was 1968. Good memories. Thank you Bellevue.

In answer to the Public middle school league that Highlands participated in, Here are some facts: Highlands entered the public Jr. High league after being unable to field more than 2-7th and 8th grade teams for at least 2-3 years. ( played out of league against teams from Boone County youth league. The public jr. high league allowed Highlands to field 2 teams in their League. The public jr. high league was started by Newport and Cov. Holmes and is very well run and may I add was surprisingly to me a very friendly league. The 2 Highlands teams were initially split by talent evenly but in the later years was split mostly by which year they were in making one team predominately 8th grade and the other team predominately 7th grade. ( note: the first year this split was made the predominately 7th grade team was runnerup to the champion 8th grade team both from Highlands) The participation by Highlands in this league was not a miserable failure, especially with the knowledge that the Ft. Thomas Jr. league was only fielding 2 teams anyway. The coaches were absolutely able to handle 2 teams. A Highlands team won the league in both 92 and 93. The future Highlands teams which participated in the Public Jr. High League had a pretty good record in the history of Highlands as follows: 1995 - State runnerups to Bowling Green 1996 - State Champions - Nationally rated and undefeated 1997 - Lost in the playoffs ( very good team Lost on muddy field) 1998 - State Champions - Undefeated Nationally ranked ( one of Highlands Best) 1999 - State Champions - 14-1 record only loss to Cincinnati Elder

If WKU has a practice field with Field Turf, the pre-game warmups could be performed on the practice field, thus allowing the games to be run faster with 30 minutes between actual games instead of 90 minutes like it is scheduled now. Some of the pre-season extravaganzes are run this way, and I for one like it because you don't wait so long between games, that is if you are there for all 3 games.

O-Line discussion is a little off topic but since Leatherneck articulated his point, it can also be said that had the 2007 o-line had the opportunity to show its stuff against these "better teams" they may have clearly showed they were better.
