This week, USAToday and High SchoolSports.net is holding a "virtual tournament" to declare a mythical high school national championship. They will use the same computer technology and programming by Ken Massey that is used (for better or worse) in the college Bowl Championship Series. The top 64 teams in the nation will be put into a single elimination tournament bracket and square off to declare a champion. The virtual tournament started today, with Highlands winning their first round game. :thumb:

Congrats to HHS as they won their first round game by a score of 54-22. The next game for HHS is against Plant who even though they are the 7th seeded team might just might be a tad tough for HHS to beat.

Plant is 9th rank, 249 schedule, 325 offense, 32 defense and 30 power,

HHS is 70th rank, 897 schedule 167 offense, 119 defense and 86 power.

Heck, CovCath gave HHS a better game than what South Charleston did!

Good luck HHS!

Good Luck Birds!! But I have to say some people have WAY too much time on their hands.

When do we play again? Is everyone healthy this week? Go Birds!

I guess the biggest question for HHS is rest. How much between games? Coming out of the Christmas Holiday season and those big turkey dinners, I would venture to say they will need some extra conditioning. Not sure if those big country folk can run with the boyz of the South. So when do they play again?

Yeah maybe. But is the game at Highlands or did Dale move it to Paul Brown Stadium. If it stays at Highlands then I give the Birds a Win by 3. :thumb: 20n10

Does the game begin at 7:00 or 7:30?

I think the Cheerleaders and Team Managers deserve all the credit for this win!! Without spirit on your side and water...how would the team survive??!! :D

I think this National ranking has got out of hand. I would like to see Highlands make a trip to Texas, Cal poly, Alabama or some of the other National High School powers. Why don't they load up and shoot for some of this ESPN games?

You put in escrow the funds need to cover the expenses involved; get the prior approval of the school board to miss school for a day or two; and then we'll try to get the game scheduled to make the trip to Texas, Cal Poly, or Alabama. :thumb:

Be standing on Watterson (Crittenden ramp) two hours before the next game and we'll pick you up and give you a ride to the game. Since you are a beer drinker, I'll throw a 6er of Falls City in the cooler just for you.
