I think this National ranking has got out of hand. I would like to see Highlands make a trip to Texas, Cal poly, Alabama or some of the other National High School powers. Why don't they load up and shoot for some of this ESPN games?

I grew up getting thumped by CCath or Highlands in the first round of the playoffs before they changed it back in the day and am NOT a fan of them...however, I'll say this. I lived in Birmingham and watched 5 or 6 games when Hoover had John Parker and Chad Jackson (one of which was against John David Booty and the FB from LSU's HS team) and i'd put this years Highlands team up against either of them. Not saying they would win, but they would give them all they wanted. Haven't seen a Texas HS team since my cousin played for the state championship with Plano East when I was a kid, so can't speak to that. Highlands was very good this year though.

Also, a little off topic, but Austin Collinsworth won't be playing in the Army All-American game this Saturday due to recently having pins inserted into his broken thumb. He will be there in uniform.

 

Also, Dale Mueller will be there and is one of 5 finalists for National Coach of the Year. The winner will be announced at the game and on national television.

Heck, this is the virtual world, Highlands now has a six story parking garage next to the stadium.

You put in escrow the funds need to cover the expenses involved; get the prior approval of the school board to miss school for a day or two; and then we'll try to get the game scheduled to make the trip to Texas, Cal Poly, or Alabama. :thumb:

 

Good news LN. A little Birdie just told me that Highlands inked a hugh deal with NIKE to sport all new unis and equipment for the playoff. Looks like the money is now in place to get that new jet to transport the Birds to wherever that next game might be. 20n10.
