If by benefit you mean certain teams have an easier road to a state championship, then I agree with the above responses.Some teams moved up in class to avoid travel expense and maintain local rivalries. I assume they moved because they thought it would benefit their programs.I have never been a proponent of the theory of avoidance as the answer to winning a championship.

Some of the players on 2000 Highlands squad Gino Guidugli QB - University of Cincinnati Brent Grover LB - University of Purdue Brett Hamblin WR/DB - UK Ben Scott DE - UK Rob Smith (JR) OT DT - Tennessee Highlands had a lot of good role players in 2000 and with Guidugli at QB could score rapidly. Athletic teams did not seem to hurt them in 2000 as much as Power football teams, such as Cincinnati Elder which was their only loss and they were not really challenged after that game. Would have been a great matchup, Too close to call - I'll say even although my heart would be with the Birds.

I agree with Jim Green of Emminence Ky as the pure fastest, but I dont know that he distinguished himself on the football field although he did play. Went to UK on a track scholarship and distinguished himself as a world class sprinter.I believe he holds the Kentucky High School 100 yard dash record of 9.7 which I believe he ran more than a couple of times. He also holds the 440 yard dash record at 47.6. He was truly in a class of his own when it came to pure speed.

As everyone has mentioned, the best way to improve the program is by starting a junior league to feed Highlands Basketball. I do not agree with some that have stated you cannot rely on the football players and must concentrate on kid that want to play basketball only!!! As a coach, you're job is to work on fundamentals, challenge your players and keep them interested in the game. Basketball is a little more difficult to keep interested because only five players are on the court at once and most coaches (for some reason, that makes no sense to me) only play six, seven or eight players on a TEAM. Concentrate on a feeder program is the best way to improve things in the near future. Get your best athletes to come out and play is the best answer for the very near future. When a player goes to the coach and asks how he can get better or what he needs to do to get more playing time and the response from the coach is "well, I know your a really good QB or football player", what do you expect that kid to do???

Reinstatler was not better than Kuhnhein, Many of the players on my list are interchangeable, good arguments can be made for all of them, It really just depends on your perspective. I did not mean to slight anybody , they were all very good when they played. That is a good pickup Mex!

I really think a fast surface is to Males advantage.Football is played in all conditions but I think a muddy field slows Male down and their offense is a sideline to sideline offense. From a technical standpoint I think Male should move the game if they can to field turf. From a home field advantage and ticket sales and parking these are all secondary issues in my opinion.Good luck to both teams, and I hope the field conditions do not drastically contribute to the outcome of the game for 2 fantastic teams.

I was under the impression that you cannot hurdle any player that is not laying on the ground. There is a 5 yard infracton for hurdling a player that is not in contact with the ground or on the ground, I would say the center is on his 2 feet thus my opinion is this is hurdlling.
