Adair, Garrard, Green, and Southwestern had a 4-team controlled scrimmage the first week. Russell/Garrard was week 2 with varsity the first three quarters and JV the fourth. Everything was live except special teams.

They dressed a little over 30 against Garrard County. Had a couple of really nice players. I'd say they should win this one.

On Day 1, I thought it had potential. But you're right, it is terrible. Takes multiple clicks just to get to scores, has scores from multiple dates with no clear division, scrimmage results are posted alongside regular games, and you can't easily click from one team to another. The KHSAA had years to make this work - why they didn't just buy the existing scoreboard and keep it running astonishes me - and they've thrown out this hunk of junk with their Arbiter contracted partners and said you'll have to like it. Bottom line, a year ago @theguru and I had a conversation about how everything at the KHSAA just seems a little stale, a little blase, a little "we don't really care what you want, this is what you're getting." They didn't listen about game programs, they've not listened about event locations, and now they aren't listening about the scoreboard. Maybe it will get better, but I'm almost of the notion that, much like Barnhart/UK, the KHSAA needs a similar refreshing.

One of these years has to be the year for Raceland, right?

Caught my eye as well. Definitely ranked on potential. There was a time when a combined Hopkinsville/Christian County club would have been a reasonable #1.

Were they ahead of Ryle? That's really all that matters!

Are there six realistic state title contenders here?

It's a tough class to rank, in my opinion. CAL is the only obvious choice. Lots of losses to graduation, some coaching changes, some other questions. It may take a few weeks to sort out, and my guess is there's some teams floating around 11-15 that find there way into this list eventually.

Does WEB DuBois have their own stadium? I saw the new school just opened.

They played in a four-way scrimmage with Garrard, Green, and Adair. Good size, not tons of numbers. Didn't seem as skilled as some previous years, but it was also a controlled series from the 40-yard line and 10-yard line playing all three teams. Very vanilla, hard to get a great read on anyone.

Definitely some kinks that need worked out and it’s certainly not what it was, but this is a positive step. It seems very readable. I hope they make it easier to click from one team to the next. Will also need to see how stats work.

Seems like Central High was such a well-oiled, high class machine under Ty Scroggins. That started to slip in recent years. Doesn't look any better with the new coach already violating very obvious KHSAA rules.

I'll say the same thing I've said since 2015: If I never have to watch a Harrison twin play basketball again, I'll be a happy man! In truth, though, the TBT is a cool event. It is nice to see the Kentucky guys come back and the fans get to interact with them.

This is year two of contracts so obviously any schedule changes for 2026 were unlikely. For a first time team in 6A, the schedule is fine. My guess is the schedule gets a little tougher during the next cycle. Brandon Smith knows what he's doing.

I'd say close. Davis Steel was formerly called Eberlein Drive, which knocked the UK team out of last year's tournament. Not sure if many players are the same but Davis Steel does have a couple of Kentucky connections in Terry Taylor (Bowling Green High School; Austin Peay University) and Pedro Bradshaw (Russellville High School; Belmont University).

Been slowly reading this for a couple of years. Made that England/Argentina World Cup match all the more enlightening.

There was no guarantee of a Game 3 - only one home game at Memorial and one at Freedom Hall. On television it looked like solid crowds for the first two games. I doubt many were available for a spur-of-the-moment third game on a Wednesday night.

My guess is a lot of "load management," finish third in the east, try to make a playoff run.

I'm from an older cloth - give me The Sports Reporters with Dick Schaap, Outside the Lines with Bob Ley, and the 30-for-30; E:60 type programs ESPN used to put out instead of the loudness of Stephen A. and McAfee. That said, you have to cultivate a younger audience if you want to keep making money, so I get why ESPN does it.

It only exists in Louisville and the Oldham schools. It is a very niche sport to begin with and I've never heard it mentioned by schools in northern Kentucky or Lexington, let alone out in the state. Even without KHSAA sanctioning they'll still be able to keep playing since all the competitors are close to each other (similar to how lacrosse existed for years prior to KHSAA adoption two years ago).

Bardstown was so up-and-down last season and Catholic was so consistent. Garrard (who beat Bardstown) lost a lot of seniors, Mercer has a good new coach but hard to know what else at this point, and Casey is still rebuilding. Barring something crazy, Lexington Catholic has to go into 2026 as the district favorite.
