The Indians and Lakers square off in their annual rivalry game to start the season with both coming off of 3-8 seasons. Russell County won this contest last year 32-9, though it was a closer game than the score indicated. Adair County brings in a new 1st time head coach in former Lindsey Wilson National Champion QB Cameron Dukes who takes over and will look to bring a more balanced offensive attack. The Indians had many injuries to QB last year but junior Braxton Mckinney coming off of a knee injury will be the starter, and RB Callum Darnell returns in the back field and will carry a lot of the load. Russell County returns Tanner Stringer at QB who was sensational last season in both the run and pass game from the QB position.

I’m going with Russell Co. mainly because they won last year. I haven’t seen anything else that would make me think Adair has turned a corner.

Really curious on this one. Hearing some concerns out of RC. Numbers way down (heard they only dressed 20 something for their scrimmages), O and D line starters are mostly freshman/sophomores. North Laurel ran the ball at will on RC in their scrimmage (20-7 through 2 quarters but wasn't that close and with RC numbers would think that they will struggle in the 2nd half especially in the August heat). But they have Stringer and based on that will give the edge to RC.

Also, wasn't aware of the new AC coach. Quick google search came up with this article. https://adairvoice.com/stories/dukes-named-head-coach,66522. Really interesting background. Was QB for Lindsey Wilson Natty team and played in the CFL. Young guy with alot of football experience, wonder if it will translate to the coaching side.

They dressed a little over 30 against Garrard County. Had a couple of really nice players. I'd say they should win this one.

Must have had a few more come out/get acclimated after the NL scrimmage. Dressed 28 for it.

Did Adair and Russell both scrimmage Garrard? Thought I'd heard that. Anyone have any thoughts that saw both?

Adair, Garrard, Green, and Southwestern had a 4-team controlled scrimmage the first week. Russell/Garrard was week 2 with varsity the first three quarters and JV the fourth. Everything was live except special teams.

The Cameron Dukes era as head coach started with a bang as the Indians rolled over rival Russell County tonight. Dukes brought a more high powered style offense and QB Braxton Mckinney was excellent going 16-25 for 193 yards. Callum Darnell added over 100 yards on the ground as well as a 100 yard INT return for a TD. Adair will head to Metcalfe County next week looking to start 2-0.
