The Bobcats are coached by Jarredd Jarrell, who was a terrific quarterback at Prestonsburg several years back.

After two rounds, the four "western" teams are paired up by RPI (1 vs. 4; 2 vs. 3) and so are the four "eastern" teams. Then for the semifinals, the final four teams are reseeded by RPI (1 vs. 4; 2 vs. 3). What a brutally tough 3-way tiebreaker. I saw all three play and I believe Whitley County was the second best team in the district. Whitley routed Perry, lost a nailbiter to Letcher, and ends up with the 4-seed playing at Boyle.

I’ve long been in favor of 3 teams per district but they’ve allowed the top four for 33 years now so I doubt that will ever change.

I kinda like this idea. Maybe offer the spot to the team with the highest rated RPI that didn’t make the playoffs. Of course that wouldn’t work for 1A or 6A because all of them make it.
