Christian County and Hopkinsville are merging at the beginning of the 2026 season. My guess is since this is the second year of the cycle, Class 6A-District 1 will only have three teams and the District 2 winner will get a first round bye in the playoffs.

At least in basketball there's no real advantage or disadvantage to RPI whereas in football is determines playoff opponents and home field advantage.

Watched Somerset/DCA online and about three different times I assumed Somerset had it in the bag, only to see Ateny bury a deep, deep, and deeper three. He's a great player. Also, congrats to Somerset on that win - they kept responding to Ateny's threes by making all their free throws.

Saw them against Caverna at the Lexington Catholic tournament. Obviously an extremely different makeup with Moreno and Dawson, but they played hard, disciplined, and smart. They probably don't win the region but as @Chosen1ne said, they'll be a tough out.

Me too. Was in Lake Placid a couple years ago and was going to ride a bobsled, but the track was being worked on and wouldn't be available for two more weeks. They did have an alpine coaster that followed the same route as the 1932 Olympic bobsled track and you could still see much of the remains of that track as you rode over it. It was a pretty cool experience.

My only positive going forward is that this was such an over-correction in roster building that we'll get a Goldilocks-just right deal next year. A lineup that can do all the things Pope wants. But what is most worrisome is not that the team is so flawed but that there have been no meaningful corrections either pregame or in-game.

It was at Boyle County last year so it should be Danville this year. Assuming alphabetical order is maintained, that would put it at DCA next year, but they don't have the capacity to host and I've not heard any plan for them to use an alternate site (first, there aren't any besides other district schools and I doubt that happens). Assuming that, my guess is its at Garrard in 2026-27 but we shall see.

The most recent realignment used data from 2022-23 and 2023-24. Assuming the KHSAA stays on a two-year cycle, that means they'll use data from 2024-25 and 2025-26. The 2025-26 enrollment data hasn't been released yet (usually comes out in January - have to have completed 100 days of school, maybe?). It was released on February 21, 2024, so I'd look for something in the next 6 weeks or so.

I don't think so. Regions 1, 2, 3, 14, and 15 all are right at or have fewer than 16 teams. Any potential realignment will probably see the Bullitts leave the Louisville region and likely reductions in the 9th and 11th, shoving teams further out and making those outlying regions larger. I can't imagine a situation where the Oldhams are in the 7th unless the 6th/7th/Jefferson County are completely overhauled.

Not surprised by the foul differential. Taylor's offense has a lot of movement and cutting toward the basket, all centered around the big man at the foul line. You have to stay disciplined and work hard to keep them in front of you or they'll get to the line a lot.

Honestly, it wasn't awful. They covered it extensively and usually had a bracket or a rundown with a full schedule and results every day. I've been in much tougher projects, I'll say that!
