  1. My two cents. I believe BW will step down, not be fired. He is not ignorant to what's happening around the program, in the community and through the alumni base. It's sad that we got to this place for someone who's dedicated his life to the school/program. With that said, a change will be good there. I like Chris Wolfe for this job as well. If it's not CW, I don't know if anyone in the state is hired, but here's the rub. I believe Chris and Brian know each other well and would you want to take a job that just ran out your buddy? I may be wrong, but that could factor in his decision to leave Male.
  2. As much as I look at this matchup, I can't help but feel that BW is superior right now and could win this by a wide margin. That being said, it is a rivalry game and stranger things have happened. I do like the front guys on both defense's though. BW will want to make NCC a passing team and I don't think that bodes well for the Breds. On the other side, BW can throw and run well, but which does NCC prefer? Could it be a case that the secondary who plays the best will win? Regardless, I hope everyone leaves the field healthy on Friday and uses the lessons learned from this game to help them pursue a long postseason run.
  3. Congrats to Ryle on this win! 6A needs to be good in NKY and Ryle has continued to get better after that dreadful offseason. Kudos to them. I don't believe SK has given up on the season. They're young, but will still be a tough out here in a few weeks. I think our expectations of high school kids can be unfair. Young players competing in a successful program are still young and will make mistakes, but they'll learn from them.
  4. Funny you say this. I thought the same watching the livestream, but just as it began to get interesting they moved the camera back to mid-field. I wonder if the Dixie players were upset by the last play not being communicated well? I can see why that would bother them. Might be a bogus thought, but something to think about.
  5. Agreed. I, too, believe this was one of those situations where you bring the young man/woman in to get a chance to have a special moment. I'm glad the officials blew it dead.
  6. Beechwood is cruising. Congrats to them!
  7. While true, Coach Trosper rubs people the wrong way, including the area coaches, but he is still a very good football coach. I respect the fact his approach is: his team vs everyone. I would think deep down the majority of the coaches have this mentality, but it's not so outwardly apparent. However, I don't like the chirping at an opposing teams players. The coaches have jobs bc of the kids, let them play the game and you coach them up.
  8. Congrats to Cooper on the win! I like the HHS broadcasts, too. It's cool that the students get to do it. Let them learn early.
  9. Big Noon fan here. Unfortunately, tonight he was not one of the best two athletes on the field. He didn't start, so he may be hurt. Jeremiah Lee and Erik Wright were animals tonight. But again, huge Charlie Noon fan. He is a boost of energy for Highlands and I look forward to each game he plays.
  10. This ^^^ Couldn't agree with you more, ATLCat. No doubt in my mind that since this policy went into effect the level of "dudes" to play in this program has dropped significantly. However, BW went through the same lull when they had the same policy in place under the same administrator that put the Ft. Thomas Independent Schools. Since that person left, BW has once again flourished through tuition students, i.e. Cameron Hergott, Logan Castleman, John Odom, and on and on. I'm not so familiar with their youth league successes and failures of late, but I would think that pool may be drying as well. I am glad they're playing against the other middle schools though.
  11. Just my opinion, the difference in the game will be if Highlands can get a passing offense going. Charlie Noon is very gifted on the ground, but will need to throw the ball to beat them. Conner's defense has been really good this season. Campbell and Boone both tried to run on them with no luck. I'm not comparing Campbell, Boone and Highlands, just stating that their run defense has been great. Hoping that both teams come out healthy and wishing luck to them.
  12. I hate hearing this. Hopefully he will be just fine. Glad the team took care of business.
  13. I don't think it's released, nor do I remember a time when it was, but I would say the majority of the 9th coaches voted for him. IMHO Sam was the best 9th region player throughout the season, but his team making the finals solidified this award. He's a tremendous player and very deserving. Congrats to Sam!
  14. Looked like he scored from the clips I saw. Personally, the fact that the official was in perfect positioning, didn't hesitate or ask for help, but rather hit his whistle and calmly signaled TD is all I can ask for. Coach Scroggins is one of the best coaches in this state and has seen many TD's and GL stands, but from I'm seeing, he was in. Congrats to Belfry on the win.
  15. First, congrats to Ben Nevels and his team on a well earned victory. He is a class act and a great leader. Second, no official cost Scott this game. Scott cost themselves the game. Pick six's, fumbles, fumble for TD, spiking it on fourth down on the 5 yd line, play calling, decision making. Did the inadvertent whistle hurt? Sure. But they lost on their own and cost themselves the opportunity to host two playoff games. Kids will make mistakes, so will officials and coaches. Holmes won, Scott lost. Kudos goes to the Bulldog players and their staff, who do a fantastic job. Best of luck to both teams next week.
  16. Congrats on the dub, Devils! Very happy for this team, their school, as well as their community. Also, kudos to PC on the terrific start to their season. Continued success to both programs.
