Not sure of the exact reason why he decided to hang up the hat and whistle at Indian Hill... Covington Catholic could be the challenge he is looking for! However, retirement benefits may be a factor in staying on as a teacher at Indian Hill or other hghschool in the state of Ohio.

Steve is a fine young man and a great coach in the making... the last time I talked to Steve, middle of December, he was excited about the Holmes' 2009 squad. I think Steve would be a great addition to any highschool program in N Ky. I think Steve will eventually end up coaching at the next level... However, if I was rebuilding a team I think I would go with a little more proven experience at the head coaching position and with Ws in the win column. Therefore, my selection would be Kevin Siple... another great coach with a proven track record on the gridiron. Kevin is a solid man with a great resume in the classroom, on the gridiron and on the streets of Ft Thomas. A great family man indeed! I see Steve or Kevin as the replacement candidates for Dale in about 10 to 15 years! Not sure why I am building them up for Cov Cath

NCBIRD, IMO it does not necessarily start with the footwork and "works it way up." I think it starts with the top and works it way down! :thumb: How many qbs have you seen that have great mechanics, skill and speed and continues to make the wrong decision during the course of a game. Especially when the game is on the line... One of several indicators of a poor decision maker is the number of interceptions vs. touchdowns. I will go with a heady qb with a good heart any day over one with the braun and "so called" skills!

Other than the obvious #22, do you know of any other "qualified" QB coach that would like to spend his entire summer and fall at HHS and not get paid for his efforts? I am sure Dale would like to know of that person...:thumb: Seriously, who was the last QB coach @ HHS before Valardo (sp)? I am thinking of Schrader...

I couldn't agree with you more! :thumb: Homer is the one that started the ball rolling with the National Record of 50 consecutive wins at HHS. I have a feeling Dale would agree with Homer as "The Face of Highlands Football." Homer started the foundation by developing the Ft Thomas Football program. A true pacesetter during the early '60s in the high school football arena. My second choice would be the late Vi Gerding, the greatest fan ever!

:thumb: Too many times the skilled players take the brunt of criticism when the line is marginal... the line is where it all starts and ends for that successful season we all have come to expect year in and out!

Some that were not ... Oliver the "head hunter Head." What a great year this man turned in. On special teams, offense and especially on defense. I understand he got HM but IMO, he should've been 1st Team. Ollie and teammate Brandon Roller were the impact players on the squad this year!

True that... I think the pre-final playoffs would be better attended. But I agree that the overall TOTAL ATTENDANCE would be down due to less games. So, what do you want? More games with less fans or fewer games with more fans in the seats? Eh..:creepy:

Can't say enough about Turner... when we lost Dave Bibb a few years ago to a coaching opportunity I thought the o-line would be in trouble. Turner came in and continues to do a masterful job year in and year out. My son is a product of Coach Turner and as a result managed to start on the O-line for four years after highschool play. Now, his dream is to coach the o-line next year at the school. Coach Turner played a very integral role in my son's collegiate carrer and his dream to coach. Thank you Coach Scott Turner!

I agree! Louisville PJ security team were not hospitable to say the least...time on the field after the game with your son is priceless... win or lose. Move the games to Thanksgiving weekend... have a game on Thursday, 2 on Friday and 3 on Saturday. That way the sup's cannot complain about the student body skipping school and the fans can deep fry the 'birds tailgating. Life does not get better than that...

I will have to agree with you on 6 divisions in Kentucky. I too think that is too many... not only were the state finals low in attendance but I feel the playoffs leading to the finals were dismal as well. I liked it when there were only 4 classes... better level of play in the playoffs and better games for the fans to enjoy. (The weather this year in Louisville was much more favorable than the torrential rain that we had in '07. IMO, the weather had absolutely no bearing on the attendance '07 vs. '08.) I would also like to see the games moved back to the Thanksgiving Day weekend format. I think that would bring back the enthusiasm of playing during the Holiday weekend and it would generate larger crowds.

Agree. :thumb: The officiating crew was out of Lexington, Kentucky. Probably closer to Ft T than Paintsville. Far stretch from the mountains. Secondly, I had a good vantage point as well and did not have a problem with the call. It was so very close... could have gone one way or the other. (If you looked at the right pole of that goal post - it had a serious lean to the right. If anything, that would have been in Cody's favor as the ball sailed high over that leaning pole!) No doubt, Cody will nail it next time... IMO, the officiating was very good. I did not like some of the calls... but that was because the calls were against the Birds! Call 'em as you see 'em.

You and 242 have put a lot of thought into the current football situation at Brossart. Sound thinking folks like yourselves will prevail and a remedy will materialize down the road. It's been said that hard working men and women can accomplish anything together. The quick fix that would jump start not only the football program but other sports programs at Brossart would be a "top notch" sports complex. Kind of like Field of Dreams scenario. Easier said then done. But with the land available in the Alexandria area it can be accomplished! Hopefully, some day you will be playing your home games at home!
