Been there Done that... miserable failure. I believe this experiment was done during the dark ages of Duffy. Had two teams... one all 7th graders and the second nearly all 8th graders. Don't know why anyone would tinker with the Ft. Thomas Junior Football League. I think the blame also falls on some of the coaches who took on more than they could handle...

The fourth reason is for the athlete and not necessarily for the team. Playing on both sides of the ball will draw more attention to the athlete and will open more doors of opportunity for playing ball at the next level. However, I am also of the opinion that when more kids get the chance to play on Friday nights the more involved the community, and in the long run, the better the program. Unfortunately, our community suffered through a coaching tenure that two platooned to the point where we only had approximately 30 players on the team. Decent teams and a state championship, but a terrible following by the community. Took several years to recover from that particular philosophy.

That Dempsey lad did a very nice job in thanking the few the proud and the... He really did a nice job. The senior class presenting their moms with a rose as a token of thanks and love really hit a chord throughout the Syndicate! You made your son proud Louis!

You need to blow more often and harder! Don't ever give up.... besides it's fun reading material...

We're good! Didn't mean to be too abrasive... in my replies. I had a hand with last year's tape and 3.5 hours was way too long. I had a senior son playing last year. I got tired of watching him! So, we really tried to cut this thing down this year to two hours max. It is truly a labor of love... we start on the tape right after the first game and it does not end until 4 - 6 weeks after the last game. Many adult beverages and cold pizzas are consumed during the process... More importanly than the development of a highlight tape, each player has a highlight tape that is being digitally stored during this process. So, if a Roller, Bardo, Dempsey, Collinsworth decides to play at the next level, a button is pushed and they have a quality tape to give to a recruiter to better enhance their dreams of playing college football. The main cheese in this process, Old Camel Newbird, spends countless hours in the basement during the Summer and Fall assembling the video and photography. (Old Camel is a non-parent now as his son graduated with and played on the 2004 State team.) We all should be so fortunate to have people like this in our communities that give back so much to the schools... MountainThunder, I have a feeling you are one of those that give! I would like to preface this by saying I do not know for sure... but it's problably like the reverend's discretionary fund at church. Seriously, I do not know how the money is utilized. If it is for the football program, then it is money well spent. Just my opinion. (100 copies were cut @ $20 to $25 per copy = $2,000 to $2,500 for the program.) It may help defray the costs of the banquet, ie. trophies & awards. I am sure that the track, cross country and golf teams do the same...

I kind of liken' the father to Justin Frisk with a dose of a little more speed... he would just as rather run you over than around you... but I have been accused of being biased towards a good running attack!

Believe me, if we could have finished the tape in 2 hours we would all have been happy in the studio. The final version was just approved by the coach and packed into the jewel cases last night. But the length of the tape is only part of the football banquet... Dale will continue to give well deserved praise to all of his athletes and coaches for the great 2008 campaign. Only one person can alter that game plan. :notworthy:

Were your highlight tapes including a 15 game season? Once again, if you ask the athletes what would thier response be? I don't think anyone of them will say it was too long... especially when they see themselves in the highlights... I have one son that just finished playing football at the next level. He played for one of the academies. He would love to have a highlight tape of the calibre of Highlands. He played at HHS and he knows the differance. The 'birds tape includes multi angles, slow motion and isolation shots on the big plays in the game. We also included several half time talks given by Dale Mueller and several pre-game motiviational talks given before the game by some of the players. So, in essence, the highlight tape is not entirely football play after football play.

It's for the kids... it may be boring to you but to the athletes it will be something they will cherish for years. Especially this year's tape. More emphasis was placed on "highlighting" all players this year rather than focusing on the seniors. I think that alone will make this year's version a real plus for the entire squad... don't be late to the banquet 'cause the best part is at the beginning! All, 100%, of the proceeds from the tape goes directly back into the football program! The highlight tape is 2 hours and 20 minutes. Exactly, one hour shorter than last year. If the 'birds fail to win state in '09, the tape length will be more to your liking... 45 minutes!

Worst possible news for a parent, friends and family members... Any update to this horrible tragedy? Praying for a better outcome from the initial report!
