This job is always open. The coach isn't the problem here, some administrative jobs at Owen need tp be open and filled with sports-minded administrators.

By law Superintendents are the only ones who can "hire" and "fire" however, when it comes to school building personnel it rests on the recommendation of the principal, unless some law has been violated. Tenured employees are protected by a continuing contract, unless they have violated a law or have been negligent in their duties.

Shelby Valley is the superior team, they just got upset in the all A.

I love Putnam stadium! Its a throwack to another era! I hope it can be refuribished, while at the same time keep the old feel.

I look for this to be a local hire, or a coach with connections to Pikeville in the past.

LOL I think that its the administration of the school that makes excuses for not being successfull, especally those who change coaches every year or 2. People have got to understand that the administration of the school sets the tone on whether they are successfull or not. With that being said, every once in a great while there will be a good run of talent that will come along and there will be a little success for a year or 2. That is not building a program.

S.V. definately made nice gains this year. Coach Saunders is the real deal. I like his hard-nose approach, its a throwback to a different era. I think Valley has at least as much talent as anyone in the area. I want to make a constructive comment, I felt at times last year they were a bit inconsistent in thier play. Granted they have some holes to fill for next year, but I think they need to work on the intensity of thier game week in and week out. I hope I made sense with that.

I would say Belfry will be undefeated and back in Louisville.

The administration at Morgan has been there a LONG time. They have been notorious for not helping the coaches do the things that need to be done to be successfull. People of Morgan Co. have tolerated this. If you are to see a sustained program, it must change.

I hate it when people whine about the officals! People seem to think that they only call games bad when they are on the road. Improvise, adapt, and overcome, if not, don't cry about it!

Anytime that you offer scholarships to kids on the High School level and there are sports offered at that school, you are going to have problems like this.

I don't know what is going on there, but it does seem that the Greenup program has definately slipped in the past couple of years.

I was really suprised at the margin in this one. Pikeville is an improved team IMO.

I don't have any evidence to back it up, but its my feeling that he will be the next H.C. at Boyle Co.

Coach, I want to wish you luck no matter where you decide to go or do. I felt that you were doing a lot of right things at Pikeville, but people who come in to coach there from the outside have problems, which you did, it was no fault of your own. Good luck Coach!!!

LOL How silly of me! I think its a smokescreen for a bigger issue to get passed. As for this transfer situation, I think you could really get into a can of worms by doing that.

I think the Legislature needs to work on the budget and not worry about athletics. If they are going to write policy, revamp the KHSAA.

Harlan Co. has had outstanding football in its past. Lynch won several titles, Cumberland was in the finals, Cawood had great teams, and Evarts has had good teams in the past. It can certainly be done there with patience and committment.

Harlan Co. has the same type of kids that Belfry, Bell, Breathit, Middlesboro, Pikeville and Prestonsburg have and they have all either won a State title or have been to the finals. I see no reason why Harlan cannot do the same with the proper committment and support.

Going by that logic, every coach hired from the NFL should be successful in College, right? LOL Yeah, that is always a guarantee. Listen, if you can coach, you can coach, doesn't matter what size the school is. That guy from Beechwood can coach, he could coach there too.

Lone Oak has absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of! I realize they were handled in the finals, but get real people, just a very few years back Lone Oak was a joke for football, now they darned near went all the way! Fantastic turnaround!! Shows you can win anywhere if you have the dedication and support!!!
