Mike Check Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Morgan's administrations reputation, including all the above mentioned, is so damamged around the coaching community i don't know how they will convince anyone to come there and deal with no facilities, no help, a principal and super that won't do anything for the football program. Brian Turner - resigned after beginning to turn the program around Reason: refusal by admin. to hire any asst. coaches that can teach. among other things. Randy Wood - resigned after taking them to the best season ever. But was still without a locker room, weight room etc. The other coaches quit or backed out because they saw the same things. I hate that the admin. there at Morgan cares so little about their athletes! Whatever reason anyone comes up with to excuse the complete disregard for the kids at morgan by admin. will not be able to justify the lack of caring imo.:irked: I hope it works out for the sake of the kids.

I agree. It takes support from the admin...I don't care who the coach is..... I am hearing the same things.
CoachNorman Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Morgan does have its problems as do a lot of schools in the state. I want to say Morgan County has some of the greatest kids in the state of KY! They have some of the best supporters in the community that a coach can ask for. As to the facilities, you are right they do need some support from the administration and state. The kids in this community and the people that support the program deserve at least an opportunity to build there facilities into something they can take PRIDE in and build their program.

If you have the greatest support then why are the facilities below par. What support can the state bring without local assistance coming first?
PRIDENEVERDIES Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 If you have the greatest support then why are the facilities below par. What support can the state bring without local assistance coming first? Look at Jackson County. A second year program with no practice field, no locker room, a weight room that is always having to be cleaned due to staph-infection. The school is really old and the money, well its not there. At least Morgan has a practice field at the high school, a place to put their practice dummies, a game field with bleachers, concessions and somewhat of a broadcast booth. Be thankful for what you have, work harder at what you need, and be grateful when you get it. :thumb:
CoachNorman Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 There are many different kinds support for a program, and the people of Morgan County does care about winning and getting behind the kids and what they have. Jackson Co is a second year program and Morgan has been around for many years, they should have much better than what they do. Just like Jackson Co. as long as Morgan keeps working and fighting to improve it will come.
Braveheart Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 The administration at Morgan has been there a LONG time. They have been notorious for not helping the coaches do the things that need to be done to be successfull. People of Morgan Co. have tolerated this. If you are to see a sustained program, it must change.
Cubster Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Morgan County has one of the best ADS in the area. He will find a coach to run a high character, hard working football program. Best of luck in finding a coach the caliber of Randy Wood.
letabrotherspeak Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 From all I can gather, this year's Morgan team suffered from a lot of self-inflicted wounds, by the coaching staff. Didn't the new coach know what he was getting into facilities wise? It is not going to be done overnight and there is support their to get things done. However, a coach and his staff must adhere to rules and go the distance to make things work. MC had been succesful to an extent with Coach Wood...and I think they will be again respectable with the right coaching hire.

But, i wonder why the admin. at Morgan won't go out and let a guy like Coach Turner get a couple of coaches that can help the program. Also, to blame last years staff for the many issues that Morgan co. had and will continue to have is not fair. Wood left for a reason. What was it? He did a good job; won games etc. Did they do anything to let him know how much he was appreciated? Not pointing the finger just wondering what they did to convince him to stay?
Nets Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 Randy Wood left for the following reason: To be with his wife and daughter in Nicholasville, Ky. Take it from somebody who knows him on a personal level. Perhaps someone could meet Randy Friday night at the Morgan Co/Fleming Co. boy/girl basketball doubleheader and ask him point blank why he left... He will say this and do the following actions.... "grab shirt...look you in the eye" "Shucks, man....the facilities are not the best...we all know that...the practice dummies did serve as a good couch and bed on many, many nights though..."

Word from coaches in the area...was that this year's MC team was a wreck. Last year's regime has hurt the program...according to some coaches in the area.

Last year's regime has hurt the program...according to some coaches in the area. Its hard to get any sort of continuity on a coaching staff whey you hire real late in the summer and 2 others already turn it down. Maybe Norman wasn't ready to be a head coach, but he tried. I agree the people in West Liberty love football. When Turner won 3 games in his stint as HC, the community were excited, but he left for whatever reasons. When Randy Wood came in with the same conditions at Turner and Norman, he lead the program to its first playoff win in school history. Sometimes people can find all of the excuses for not winning or problems in the program, but if you work hard enough, get the kids to believe and the community support, things will change in due time.
