I was at the game as well! I did not see anything thrown as well, i was at halfcourt three rows from the court across from the benches. Shelby County had a nice contingent, and I did notice on the way there they are only about 15 miles from Henry County!! I never get tired of driving to Rupp Arena for the sweet sixteen, but I detest driving on I-71. This was my first time to get to see Shelby play. I thought A. J. Slaughter was all that and then some!! Eugene Wade has some serious hops he goaltended 4 times I think. To Shelby County I want to say congratulations. I hope they go all the way. I just hope Eugene Wade doesn't put his arm through through the rim blocking a shot of CovCath's in winning the state championship!! To the SK seniors hold your head high you guys were great. I will especially miss Phil Schambach's game, I thought he turned it up a notch in leading the Pioneers to the runnerup position in the 8th region. This was a nice year for the Pioneers and call me crazy but I think they have a nice chance of not only going to the the sweet Sixteen but actually winning it!!:thumb: To all of my BGP peeps I won't be as busy posting as normal due to changing my focus upon the Trout and Stripers at Lake Cumberland!

That thyey did!! I know that Highlands just went to Shelbyville and lost to Shelby 66-65. I also know that SK beat Highlands last season, they didn't play this year due to regional realignment. The bottom line is this, SK isn't favored tommorrow if Shelby wins, they were supposed to right?? Sk only won 9 games last season. Highlands was one of their 9 wins. Sk was predominantly sophomores last season. Two years ago in the Eagle Bank Classic SK beat Pendleton County as Predominantly freshmen. SK won against Lexington Bryan Station in this years AIT. what does all of this mean?? I think in a one game and you are gone SK is still there and Shelby will have to beat them. I will be there with probably six others rooting on those Pioneers! Let it all go tommorrow and lets see what happens!!:fight: :walk: :ylsuper:

I just got back as well!! I am impressed with the way that SK is playing!! Mike Hester is playing well right now. He isn't getting flustered and is letting the game come to him! I watched Shelby for the first time tonight and I think SK will do just fine. Shelby will have to come out and beat these Pioneers. I also know what happened in the 10th . Pendleton was a foregone conclusion as well right?? I noticed that Shelby has a huge following and that their shirts say follow us to Rupp and Diddle Arenas. I hope SK Boys and Girls teams make those shirts a White Elephant Item!!:thumb: I hope the "Superfans" come out in force tommorrow and support these Pioneers!!

They still must beat Oldham. They are playing on a neutral floor this time and I think SK prevails to meet Shelby. But you are right, worst case scenerio we could be watching Oldham versus North Oldham in the finals.

This is SK's first season in the 8th region. They also have to play Williamstown, Walton and Grant County twice for seeding in the 32nd district. They also according to Kenton county policy must play Dixie and Scott high twice. That is 10 mandatory games. With this being said I would have loved to see them play Shelby. I am sure that Shelby had the same conflicts they played in th LIT and the 5th 3rd this past season.

I drove over 70 miles one way.....just a thought. I wonder if any other team in the state gets their student athletes back to school almost midnight on a school night?

Wow! I just got back home from attending the game. I am amazed by Mike Hester's play tonight. Anderson County had two sometimes three guys chasing him. Mike threw down 22 points and had several steals and probably around 5 assists. Anderson stayed close in the first quarter then Sk slowly began to widen their lead. The last time I looked up and remembered the score it was SK 65 Anderson 35. Sk was able to play a lot of players tonight. Anderson had several players foul out tonight. They were a second late and a step short all night! Congratulations Pioneers on their first 8th regional win!!:thumb: The Shelby County people I was sitting next to were really surprised that SK won so handily. They said Anderson played them tough this season! SK gets to keep their uniforms and practice two days before the rematch with Oldham County.

I was a neutral observer at this game . They were tied at the end of the first quarter 15-15, then dixie went on a 12-0 run to lead 27-15. Holmes then made a charge before half and went on a 11-0 run to go into halftime trailing 27-26. Holmes then started playing passively and crept ahead in the third. Dixie was coming up short on their shots and even their free throws in the third period. The Jefferson technical was definitely the turning point in the game. Duran thought he made the clean block on Keener. I hate to see a game end like this!! But what the heck, Congrats Dixie!! Kick some 9th region butt!!:thumb:

I have complained about how weak the 32nd district is, but where can you quote me on saying the entire 8th region is weak???Shelby is well known around the state as the team to beat in the 8th!! I miss the annual games with Newport Catholic, Bishop Brossart, and Highlands. Sk moved to a very weak district which is seeded, meaning they had to play the other three teams twice. I don't know about you but I hate to sit and watch a 82-32 beating , even if it is my team on the winning side!! I wish they would have played Anderson. Shelby and a few other 8th region teams.

I would like to nominate Mike Hester a junior point guard from Simon Kenton Mike had 34 points and hit six three pointers in leading SK to the 32nd district championship. Mike always follows up his offensive game with a strong defensive pressure on the other teams guards . He usually is pretty disruptive to the other teams play calling! Mike is a three year starter at SK and is a top notch student.

Do they empty the gym on the 6th and 7th after the first game or can you pay one price and see both games??? I hate it when they clear the gym after the first game I would be glad to just pay ten bucks or so and not have to leave and then get back in another line. Is there anyone else with me on this??

Congratulations to th Colonels. I got there early at 5:00 and there were about 75 CovCath students that was impressive! #3 and # 15 were huge for CovCath, but they were the guards, I thought CovCath's inside guys played too soft tonight and didn't finish well! That will hurt them down the line if they play soft like that again!

I am getting ready to head to this game at 4:00 I hope to get a decent seat. I would love to see History made, I will be rooting fro the home team to pull the upset!! :thumb:

I didn't bother going to this game . The other two times Sk played Williamstown the scores were 80-36 and 82-32 I noticed in the box scores that SK led 54-16 at the end of three quarters, I am sure Coach Steiner played his bench in the 4th quarter!!

I was there, and is that the Dixie player's name I thought they were saying Diener???? Dixie had a excellent night shooting the three ball. The Dixie player looked like Ritchie Farmer tonight. I can only offer up congratulations to the Colonels they played the better game and were the better team on the floor tonight!
