Great high school atmosphere. Hard to believe that there are 2 Union high schools now. Both teams had great support in the stands. For Cooper. Their QB looked just as good (or better) than Ryles QB. More mobile, smart with the ball, good size and quickness(not as much zip on his passes as Ryles QB). His sideline pass to Hendrix in the 3rd quarter was nice and a fantastic diving catch by Hendrix (looked like Brandon Tate catch for the Bengals last week). Hendrix was a big difference maker in this game. Kid can play. Also thought Marcus Watson and Justin Schlarman played a great game. Congrats to Cooper on the W.

I'm throwing Walton-Verona into the sleeper pick category in the 8th . Not in winning the region, but a good solid team who will be improved and playing a nice schedule. Should have good size with Brook (6-7ish) who evidentially is getting D1 interest, Z.Clinkenbeard (6-4ish), M.Clinkenbeard, Kinmon, Sullivan, Anderson. I'm sure I'm missing a few. Lay going back to WV from CovCath where he was one of the better freshman in the 9th last year will help. Coach Brannen should put together a nice season.

Results for the Grant county meet. Grant County Invitational and the Tiger run in Louisville. Tiger Run You can also click "calendar" at top of page for all races. I would guess that the top meets in NKY this year that will get most of the local teams running at the same time will be next weeks Raider Invitational at Ryle. St.Henry invitational at Idlewild on 10/10 and the NKAC at Idlewild on 10/13.

Some summer highlights from Best of the South tournament.

Hit up Bourbon House Pizza in Florence/Oakbrook last night. Had really good pizza (chicago style and hand tossed). You can print a coupon off their online site for a buy the first and get the second at half price. Will definitely go back.

Probably one of the last to give it a try, took the daughter to Bakersfield OTR for a late lunch yesterday. We had a milanesa (chicken sandwich), fish taco, salsa, and queso. Really enjoyed it.
