Does anyone care to provide a little backstory/resume on Coach Wallace?

Coach Chalk, left Dunbar after 2020-21 season since then they have had several coaches. In order Murray Garvin (2 seasons), John Morgerson (1 season), George Baker (1 season but don't think he coached the entire year), Steve Quattrocchi (1 season) a program desperate looking for stability.

Croft and Curtis, would be logical choices both have a proven track record of success in the 1st region. I am glad to see Curtis, getting consideration especially with how his time ended at Christian County. As for Doss, this is the second time I have heard his named mentioned in the coaching carousel this offseason after just one season at Murray. They had a nice year at Murray but he also, inherited a stellar team. I am not familiar with Shumpert, but suspect he has a solid resume. As I suspected there will be several coaches eager for this oppurtunity/

Link NKY's article highlights Sam Elsbernd, by the numbers I will spare that post. I am sure this was a tough decision for Coach Elsbernd considering how rooted he is into all things Covington. If history is any indicator, I would say he will be back on the sidelines at just a matter of when not if. As for Holmes, it feels like anytime this job has come open in the past decade Ricardo Johnson's name has buzzed around it. I would think he will be their first phone call and possibly there only phone call. After that I have no clue who would be the likely successor.

I have seen a few with some age on them that are all about posting themselves too. I don't think we can just label this as a young coach's problem. In today's world there is a fine line between posting about your program versus it being the coach's fanboy page.

A little satire, nothing would have changed

The blue tornados should have no shortage of interested applicants. The long standing tradition as well as promising up and coming players should make for a quality applicant pool. PT, from 1922 to 2010 won the region almost every 4 years if not more frequently amassing a total of 26 regional titles through that period. The emergence of McCracken County High School, has put a dent into their ability to routinely make it to Rupp. I will be interested to see how this one shakes out.

That would have made a huge difference in the 10th region this year ?

I did a deep dive last year into the 15th region super-regional it is an extremely different format. You still have the district tournament, and the district runner-up/champ are on opposite sides of the bracket. All of the district champions make the regional quarterfinals and then the remaining teams have a chance to play their way into the quarterfinals. A theoretical here that has played out in the 15th a few times, Murray beats Calloway County in 1st round of district but loses to Marshall County in the championship. Calloway County, could then play their way into the quarterfinal matchup with Marshall County.

I could see referring to Boyd County, as a big time job with some possible recency bias, they lose a ton of talent. However, I don't think Greenup County is big time at all. Their last semi-final appearance was 2014 prior to that it was 2006. The last time Greenup County team to make the Sweet 16 was in 1997. If I were an admin at Greenup, I would want someone that plans to place their roots in the community and work to develop a program.

Played last year for W.E.B. DuBois as an 8th grader averaged 4.1 points last season. I saw on twitter earlier this week he has enrolled at St. Xavier.

I have been following the Wildcats, for sometime. I am hoping coach McCoy, will have his teams in the conversation to contend in the 4th region.

I am curious to see this play out no way this goes smoothly. Do we at least know who the finalist are?

I heard yesterday that most of the interviews have taken place, I would expect a decision to be made by the beginning of next week.

Cutter Browning from Leslie County and Emerson Bedtelyon from Jackson City have both enrolled at Perry County Central. I am hearing there is one more player on the move that will shake up the way too early 14th region rankings.

I don't see him getting much clock at the USF. Also, never really bought into the hype with this kid. The family name gives a lot of luster and no one loves a legacy player more than me but Moss and Spurlock were both better. He isn't even remotely on the level of being good enough to play at UK, anyone thinks that has "unforgettable blinders" on.

I heard Jordan Gilbert, from a reliable source yesterday.

I think that is a great point and I know player movement is always a hot topic. I am pretty sure there is a KHSAA rule against players simply following their coaches to the next school. I know of a school last year during the off season who had hired a coach in name but waited for the kids from his current school to enroll prior to officially hiring. A technicality nevertheless but one that would most likely hold up in court. Unless there are several kids that enrolled prior to both coaches accepting the job I wouldn't expect there to be much movement between Bell County and South Laurel.

This is an interesting opening seems fairly similar to Montgomery County despite the occasional winning season. Since Harold Tackett's departure in 2017-18 they have burned through the coaches. Robert Amis, Steve Barker, Corey Allison and Nathan Sutton best of luck to GC in finding a new coach hopefully they can find a stabilizing force.

Generally unfamiliar with the scoop on anything football related. However, this Steve Stanton was an interesting character to say the least.

A team that was expected to be the favorite to win the 13th region is looking for a new head coach. We will see where the dominos fall as there can always be roster movement but I really like this team going into 2026-27.
