Sources say that David Davis has resigned from Paducah Tilghman.  He did a very good job leading the Tornado to the Regional Championship game.  I think there is a very good chance Coach Davis will go back to coaching in Southern Illinois.

The blue tornados should have no shortage of interested applicants. The long standing tradition as well as promising up and coming players should make for a quality applicant pool. PT, from 1922 to 2010 won the region almost every 4 years if not more frequently amassing a total of 26 regional titles through that period.  The emergence of McCracken County High School, has put a dent into their ability to routinely make it to Rupp. I will be interested to see how this one shakes out. 

They struggled last year filling the position. 
 

I’ve already heard of some coaches that could be interested this time. 

Nobody really wanted to follow Coach O since he was very well-respected and had been coaching in this area for a long, long time.  I’m not trying to knock Coach Davis with that statement - just that Greg was so well-liked in the Paducah area and Coach Davis has his roots in Southern IL.  It’s now a different situation.

Wonder if Shumpert will apply this time?

Agree, They should have never let Coach Overstreet go. 

Strong history but the success hasn't been the same since McCracken County came into the picture in 2013-14.

If my counting is correct, the Mustangs have a 27-9 lead in the series with the Blue Tornado. That includes three Mustang wins this past season.

PT hasn't been to Rupp since 2010 but just played for a regional title just two months ago. Had some good younger pieces. One of the best jobs on the market this cycle.

Heard the front runner for job is former Murray High coach Dior Curtis. Other names mentioned Colin Doss, Payton Croft, and that Terry Shumpert. 

Croft and Curtis, would be logical choices both have a proven track record of success in the 1st region. I am glad to see Curtis, getting consideration especially with how his time ended at Christian County. As for Doss, this is the second time I have heard his named mentioned in the coaching carousel this offseason after just one season at Murray. They had a nice year at Murray but he also, inherited a stellar team. I am not familiar with Shumpert, but suspect he has a solid resume. As I suspected there will be several coaches eager for this oppurtunity/

I've heard those same names with Doss in the lead so who knows what is actually true.

This time around but last time they had a hard time getting interest.

What's the latest on the job?

I have not heard anything beyond some of the names mentioned above.  Hopefully things get rolling soon!

I imagine that Tarus and Greg Johnson go back to Southern Illinois with Coach Davis.  I think they may have even been related?

Two very good players in the Senior class - Eli Dabney and Tyson Arthur.  I’m biased but the rising Junior class is very strong.  Avery Thompson, Carruthers (hopefully eligible), Powell, Lee.  There are others in that class too.  That’s as good of a Junior class as there is in the 1st Region (in my biased opinion).
