Summer ball is just that, summer ball.  Half of the teams that has a head coach in place, you will see the head coach let the asst. coach run the team while is bull crapping with someone.

    My guess would be no.

  • Every teacher is concerned about tenure.

You’d have to think Jordan Gilbert is #1 candidate.

Gilbert is on the list. I know Jason Hinson has been interested in the past. There is always the rumor of Allen Feldhaus Jr. coming home.

Why would he leave Madison Central?

I’d be surprised by this given the way he accepted the girls job and left two months later.

I have followed Mason County for a long time.  With GRC and Montgomery County it will be difficult to win the region. Not sure if there are others things that lead to this, but I thought he did a nice job coaching with what he had.

Would Mason County hire Jordan Gilbert, who was hired as the girls coach for two months, then left? I don’t think so.

Tim Sullivan is not leaving his job as a teacher at Scott, and then driving an hour round trip everyday to coach at Mason County.

Allen Feldhaus Jr. is not leaving Madison Central. If anything, he will retire after this year.

I think the hire will be someone with experience that is not currently in the 10th Region and is under the radar.

Just wondering if there is anyone on staff with the credentials and ready to move up?

It’s going to be a tough couple years by Mason standards but they are in a district they can win every year. This needs to be a hire of someone willing to stay for a while and continue to build it back up.

That seems like that would be Jordan  Gilbert.

The best hire is probably right there already.

The thing with Gilbert is yes he’s an alum with great experience but Mason has the same people there who were there when he put them in a tight spot a few years ago with the girls job. Do they forgive and forget and hope he comes home and is the Royal who brings back Royals basketball? If all the fans want Gilbert and he isn’t the guy, then the new guy is already coming in with one hand tied behind his back. They need to be open to any option.

As for on staff, you have Myrick and Crawford who have been on staff a while. Both have no head coaching experience but have been there and know how it runs. Crawford would probably be the guy if they go that route for his experience in other things.

I still say this needs to be a young, outside hire of someone who brings energy and a plan to build it back up to compete in the 10th year in and year out.

Based on what I’ve heard from others, Feldhaus, Gilbert and Sullivan are all not interested.

Who knows what will happen though.

Was Coach Kirk the guy that was there a few years ago when there was some kind of drama with a couple of twin brothers from Bracken County?
