Ball never sleeps in Louisville. The off-season is just an opportunity to exhale and regroup. 

Everyone in the 7th Region could use a breather after a season full of twists and turns. St. X was the early favorite, before Male took the Tigers down in the King of the Bluegrass. Injuries soon crippled the Bulldogs, leaving the region wide open for several teams, including an Edelen-infused Ballard. 

We ultimately came full circle, as the cream rose to the top with X claiming the regional championship.

With the likes of Cole Edelen, Jeremiah Jackson, and Jayden Johnson off to the collegiate ranks, the deck may get shuffled a little, but the names on the front of the jersey won't change much.

X | Can the X-Men make it a three-peat with the return of springy superstar Josh Lindsay stepping into an even bigger role, both in terms of production and leadership?

H | What does a full season for the duo of Jordan Mitchell and Trey Hillerich look like? Male should be in the conversation for a lofty preseason ranking inside the region and beyond.

? | How high is Ballard's ceiling? It has to be at least seven feet to accommodate the 6’11” frame of Mason Grivna, who's primed to become one of the more dominant forces in the state. 

? | Next year's junior class is loaded, perhaps the best the city of Louisville has seen in many years. Lindsay, Mitchell, and CAL's tandem of Jordan Cook and Myles Howard are all Top 100 prospects, nationally. Hillerich is also being courted by high level Division I programs.

Be it predictions, off-season rankings, coaching changes, schedules… this is the place for it.

Very hard to tell right now for sure being the season just ended. But I think you have to look at Male in terms of brining back the most talent at the moment with Mitchell and Hillerich being the headliners. X and Ballard will both be solid once again for sure. Those would be my top three at the moment. Cal has some of the best talent I can remember them having. 

As for my Trinity Shamrocks, Garrison Gilvin vastly improved at the guard position and led the Rocks in scoring this past season. Jaiden Bartlett and Camden Jackson were great and showed a ton of growth as a sophomore and freshman. Some good young talent jumping up from F and JV after this season as well. The loss of Jayden Johnson, Thomas Hornek, as well as Xavier Cosby will hurt but I believe that Coach Saxton and the Rocks will be in the mix once again.

All good points. But Gilvin was even more than vastly improved. He was selected 1st team All Region by opponent coaches and averaged 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals per game vs the toughest schedule in the state. And, the Rocks have a rising sophomore named Colt Powers. Watch out for Colt. Played at IMG as an 8th grader but was out all his Frosh season at Trinity with a back injury. 

 

The accolades are rolling in for Male's super sophomore. Still two years left to go.

Played last year for W.E.B. DuBois as an 8th grader averaged 4.1 points last season. I saw on twitter earlier this week he has enrolled at St. Xavier.

Will file this under the rich get richer.

Obviously very early still, but Grivna has added Indiana, Iowa, and Villanova to his offer list.

 

Some development from Trinity. Appears that rising junior Micah Freeman and rising senior Parker Kays and both transferring in from DeSales and Floyd Central (Ind.).
