  1. Great job adjusting for both teams!!
  2. All that talent PT has showed in the youth/middle school system has not panned out in HS yet. I'll believe it when I see it.... how many years is it now 16? I know it's been a while. Plus, Mayfield is getting a heck of a QB next year!
  3. Congrats to this young man! Reclassified back to a freshman. He should be a threat to break several, if not all, of the Tornadoes passing records when it's all over with.
  4. 5- Trinity 3- Bowling Green 3- Ashland 1- McCracken Co 1- Graves Co 1- Woodford Co 1-South Warren 1-Lincoln Co 1-Franklin Co 1-Lexington Catholic Tie breaker- 52
  5. Dabney is a really good athlete. He started last year at safety as a freshman and had a handful of snaps under center. He definitely is more mobile and can make plays. Not sure if he is ready to come in and produce at a high level vs a veteran defense the Eagles will bring. I did hear he looked good vs Christian Co in their scrimmage. Although, just about everyone looked good vs the Colonels. Graves is maybe a step below from being a top tier team in 5A this year. I still believe it will be a close game and can go either way.
  6. The key to the game will be stopping the run of both sides. Both will be better defensively. This is a toss up. I don’t thing Cartwright has the vision to make the necessary plays to beat Graves with his arm and lack of mobility. It is close…. Eagles 17-14.
  7. Saw Tilghman at their last scrimmage and they did not impress. I’ll take McCracken. The young Tornadoes will have to grow up quickly. They weren’t physical and I believe McCracken will put that to the test. I’ll take the Mustangs 28-14
  8. Per Crittenden Press: The Rockets have cancelled their trip to Calloway for their scrimmage tonight. Their home opener vs Murray is now cancelled. Not sure if Murray is looking for a game or taking bye week.
  9. Isn't true that if your school does not offer a football program, you can go play at a neighboring school and play? Hope these kids get that opportunity. Adults leading kids estray ?
  10. Is this a controlled scrimmage? Or more game down & distance? Thinking of tuning in
  11. I doubt Mayfield will get "run over" by anyone. They are well coached and know how to play in November/December! If the Cardinals take care of business, I think they will be hosting a semis game vs one of these two.
  12. I watched the game and agree with you Guru. LCA seemed like a better team. To me, experience in championships was the key for Beechwood. Don't get me wrong, the Tigers are well deserved. Just saw LCA make mistakes they hadn't made all year.
  13. This is so unfortunate. Prayers to the family! Heat guidelines are set for a reason. They are a pain sometimes and can alter practice plans on the regular but it's more important to keep these kids safe. Again, condolences to the family.
  14. Russellville is also going to be much improved. I believe they have all 22 starters coming back and a couple of Logan Co kids that transferred that will help out.
  15. This program has been on a roller coaster since it was first mentioned! I hate it for the kids. They were promised the world to transfer. I hope it works out for the best with everyone involved.
  16. I agree WKY, I don't consider Owensboro part of Western KY ? Top 3 games in our area: McCracken Co. vs Paducah- This rivalry has never been bigger. The young Tornadoes' are out to prove they are all grown up and ready to turn heads. The Mustangs will have one of the best backs in the state with Brady back as a 5th year senior. Adding a bit of salt on the wound, Coach Smith switched hats from the blue/white to the black/crimson. Louisville Ballard vs Hopkinsville- Hopkinsville is loaded with athleticism on both sides of the ball. They are one of the favorites for the regional crown in 4A region 1. The Bruins make the trip down I-69 and bring big boy ball to Hopkinsville. After a covid-cancelling season in 2020 (4 total games played), Ballard is ready to show that Louisville football reigns supreme. Graves Co vs Mayfield- Clint McKee will again be the work horse for the Eagles. They have several seniors coming back to see if they can un-seed Owensboro for the district crown. Mayfield will be back to prove last year was a fluke. Loosing in a home playoff game for the first time since 2008 must have the Cardinals eager to get back on the field. They will be anchored by Kylan Galbreath (RB) and Jax Rogers (LB). There is no love lost in this city/county rivalry. Honorable mention: Murray vs Crittenden Co
  17. Wow! Coach Lewis is a very valuable pick up. Good offense minded coach.
  18. Very interesting move for McCracken. I know there was an exudes of middle school players that went from McCracken over to PT a couple of years ago. The young Tornadoes embarrassed McCracken that season and they haven't played since. These kids are now soph/juniors that were lead by coach Smith... who is now a Mustang.
  19. Murray will be hosting Muhlenberg County, Marshall County, and Logan County on 08/06.
  20. Great work DMC. Great detail all around for many well deserved athletes around our state! Seeing Hunter Bradley and Clint McKee on the list, I would also add Mayfield’s Kylan Galbreath as one of the best in the west. The success of the Cardinals will rely on legs of this young man. He was injured most of last year and seems to be ready for a breakout year! Small ins stature but quick, fast, and smart as a runner who also doesn’t mind to fill a gap and make a tackle on defense. He reminds me of VanCleave from a couple years ago.
  21. Not many Louisville teams get a chance to make that drive!! Hoptown is a solid, athletic squad. Should be a good game.
  22. Out here in western KY, there have been a couple of HS teams that have been put on quarantine in the last couple of weeks, a soccer program and a volleyball team. I hope we don't see this in football.
  23. This seems to be a thing more in basketball. I do not for see this to be the norm in football. While injuries is a concern for top recruits, football is not a sport you can take a year off and get better. The body of a young man is still developing through high school and the game becomes faster in college. Yes, he will earn $$ being a top recruit and going to play in Columbus but he is also going to compete for a job with other 5 star players. Hope this kid is not being handled (advised) the wrong way and wish him the best. Maurice Clarett comes to mind when I look at this situation. Great RB for the buckeyes back in the early 00's. He was strongly advise to make the jump to the league for the $$ and avoid injury...
  24. From first view: one team that draws attention is LCA ranked 5th ?. I may be wrong but I don't remember a 2A team being ranked that high! Without a doubt, LCA is stacked with talent and (IMO) the clear favorite for the 2A crown. I'm just not sure if they are set to battle with the top tier of KY football. Good thing their schedule this year will bring clarity to this conversation.
  25. 100% agree with you @TylerDurden IMO: AAU sports should not be more important than school affiliated sports! Football is not a sport you can just practice 1 or 2 days a week and expect to be good. It isn't fair for the entire team that is busting their tails daily trying to accomplish a team goal. Also, by missing so much practice time in football, at some point, it becomes a safety issue. Not knowing what to do (play, technique) on the field can increase the probability of injury ten fold.
