I don’t think Campbellsville will win a state title or get close to beating Pikeville or Hazard, but they should be very much improved. I think they could challenge for a region title if they gel well and get good line play. They have some really good athletes back and a whole new scheme on offense.

I honestly don't know, I think Taylor will be better than last year, and they will have revenge on their mind, so I'd say Taylor would be a slight favorite with them being at home. Should be a very competitive game.

I was able to attend this one, and the Dragons did not disappoint. The Dragons won the varsity section 6 touchdowns to zero for Adair. Adair won the Jv section 2-0. Green really threw the ball well and played very solid as a team. Houchens and Seymour are still going to be a handful for anyone they play this year when they run the ball. I really like the way Hodges threw the ball and how scary Ferguson is in the open field with the ball. He's going to be great at WR. Also saw some great speed out of Slinker, he has improved massively from last year, along with having picked up some great muscle. Adair has some really big guys up front and they get after you, but they don't have an athlete that can just take one to the house at any time. They will need to be methodical and score when they make it into the redzone. I think they will have a tough year with the district they are in, with the teams they play all improving from last year. I think the Dragons are 100 times ahead of last year throwing the ball, but behind where they were last year at this time with defense. I expect the Dragons to only get better as the young guys get more and more game experience. Excited for the season to get started.

I'm not sold on LCA being the second best team in 2a by a wide margin. They return some really nice pieces, but lost a ton as well, especially on the defensive side of the ball. I'm also not sold on Boley being a huge answer for LCA, obviously he has gotten some big time offers and I'm sure the guys recruiting him know football better than I, but I have seen him play multiple times and I have never been blown out of my mind with his ability as of now. I believe his size and arm strength are legitimate big time D1 potential and the coaches know they can fix release issues and accuracy at the next level, but that doesn't always translate to being great this season in high school. I think he has a ton to prove this year to be considered as solid as a pickup as Robinson is. Robinson on the other hand is already proven to be a massively great athlete, and is headed to a defense that was almost unstoppable last year, I can only imagine how good they will be this year.

I honestly think it will take a prefect game and some mistakes for anyone to beat beechwood this year in 2a, including LCA. I think Mayfield will be solid, but not sure they have the horses to beat either Beechwood or LCA, but I never count out Big Red and believe they will make a game of it with anyone they play. Green County will be better than last year, and have some new kids out who should help right away, but I am honest in the fact the Dragons don't match up well with Beechwood, and I would for sure rather see them match up with LCA than Beechwood. The Dragons also would have to clear a hurdle of Mayfield more than likely as well, and we saw how that turned out last year. Just super excited to see some great football in a few short weeks.

I would have to think this makes Beechwood a heavy favorite to 3 peat. This also makes me believe they won't lose but maybe one game if that. Beechwood was already going to be a super good team who I thought to be the favorite to win it all before Robinson, his addition just makes them that much better.

I'm not sure I would say 2A is down. Maybe down from last year, when beechwood and LCA were more than likely top 15 teams in the entire state. LCA is still going to be very very good, Beechwood is still loaded, Mayfield will be better than last year as they return a ton, Murray should be super solid, along with Middlesboro being very good again. Walton-Verona returns a ton and should be improved, Green County returns a massive amount from an 11 win team and very well could be better than last year, Metcalfe return the best team they have had since more than likely 2007. Owensboro Cath returns some nice pieces as well, along with Hancock county. Shelby Valley should also be very good too. 2A might not have the two top tier teams like they did last year, but it has some really good teams again.

I expect Monroe to be improved. They will have to find some offense, and they lost some tough players to graduation, but return a real solid group of young players. I see them being a 3-5 win team.

I was able to catch some of the passing league games this past week, and the Dragons are as athletic as I have seen a Dragons team in years. Houchens and Seymour looked 2-3 steps faster than last year, and Hodges and Ferguson threw the ball very well. The Dragons are going to be extremely fast on the edges and the back half of the defense. This type of complete field speed is something I haven't seen from them in years. I'm not sure how the Line is going to play out, but if they come together and give those guys with the ball even a small hole, those guys are fast enough to break one at any time. The Dragons also showed some real ability to throw it this past week, which should really help open holes in the running game. The Dragons will need a passing game to keep teams honest, and push further into the playoffs, and the passing league showed they are well ahead of last year with throwing the ball. Should be a good year in Dragon Country.

Hey Nate, Not sure on these two schools, but many schools have early release on Fridays, which very well could be the case for both and would allow for this early game time. You very well might be right, but this is also a different possibility for it to happen. Have a great day.

Metcalfe return a massive amount of kids. They will be super solid. I'm not sure I see a loss for sure, other than maybe Green County. Those two should battle it out for the district title.

I drove by yesterday and the project is already started.

I was told today that Green County has approved resurfacing the football field to turf and it would be done by the start of this season. Really hope to see this happen.

I really like the Glasgow team that is returning. I hope to catch a game this year, and might try to make the Taylor game. Glasgow has some really good pieces returning. I expect Taylor to be very solid offensively, but I'm not sure how good they will be defensively. Taylor lost a bunch of good players on the defensive side of the ball, but have some really talented young kids that are capable of replacing them. Taylor should have a tough game in Green County and should show good they are.

Taylor is going to be very very good. They return the house, and are only going to get better as the year passes. Not sure I see a loss on this schedule for them. Only games I see being competitive is Spencer, Green and Glasgow, all of which I'd still have Taylor as the favorite to win. Should be one of the better teams in the area and maybe a top 3 team in 3a.

Green County Returns a ton offensively, but lose one of the best players in our area in Noah Grey, who the dragons can't replace, but have to hope a committee of players can create some of the same things Grey was able to do on the field. The Dragons do return Blake Houchens and Julian Seymour along with Kelson McKinney and Zack Ferguson in the back field along with 4 of 5 starters on the offensive line and most of the Receiving core returns. Defensively they have some holes to fill. They again return Houchens and McKinney at linebacker spots and the entire secondary, but will need to fill the massive hole left by Noah Grey, Harley Montgomery, and Nathan Davis. Those three guys made a ton of tackles and leave some major shoes to fill. The dragons have to hope some guys come out to play this year that didn't the previous year, and help with depth and fill some of the holes left by graduation. The Dragons have a very good 8th grade class coming up, that is also a very large class, hopefully some are ready to contribute now and help with depth as well. I really think this Dragon team will score points in bunches, but have some major questions on defense. The Dragons should be a good team, but could take some lumps from a few teams while the new young guys grow into high school football.

His sister, (Great Basketball player) as you put it "Relocated" to Elizabethtown, and I'd go out on a limb and say he will follow suit or go to a very similar situation. This is a no question about it move for sports and his want to be in a system that fits his skill set. Right, wrong, or however you see it, this one is about sports and purely sports.

I 100 percent believe this decision would have been made well in advance of the tornados that hit the area, but can't see him leaving the kids and the community now with all that has happened. Either way, he is one of the best coaches in the state of Kentucky, and has earned the right to leave when he believes its the right time for him.

I understand the retirement part here, but I have a hard time believing Coach Morris would leave the team and community after the disaster that just hit Mayfield. If so, its a pretty tough thing for those kids and community to be hit with right now. Just a tough blow all around if he leaves.

I thought this might happen, mayfield didn’t dominate Green county at the point of attack, they killed the Dragons with speed, and I figured beechwood could match them step for step and would be much better in the trenches. Mayfield is a very good team, beechwood is just beyond loaded this year.

Green County actually had a very nice night running the ball, The dragons would get to the 30 and 20 yard line and have drives stall or get penalties that took them out of the running game and killed drives. I'd say the dragons finish with upwards of 200 yards rushing if not more than 250. I also think someone had mentioned in the prediction thread about the Dragons being shell shocked and hoped it didn't happen, but I fully think that happened. Mayfield was up two scores before the Dragons even knew the game had started. The rest of the first half outside of the first 4 mins of the first quarter was very competitive and fun to watch. Neither team is afraid to hit, that's for sure. I really like how Mayfield gets after you too, those guys mean business and are coming down hill and don't shy away from contact.

Congrats to Glasgow. Those young guys have had to overcome so much this year, and I hope they go win the entire thing. Congrats to Bardstown on a great year, and a great ball game from the sounds of it.

Congratulations to Mayfield, no question they are the better team and played a very good game. I feel like the Dragons could have played better and made this a much more competitive game score wise, but Mayfield is a no question 2-3 touchdowns better than the Dragons. The Dragons seemed to be shell shocked by the team speed of Mayfield and just didn't start well and a good team like Mayfield hit them in the mouth and never looked back. Mayfield is very good on offense, but gave up a bunch of yards on the ground to the Dragons, and unfortunately the Dragons couldn't score from inside of the Redzone when they got there. This game very well should have been 28-18 at the half, but the dragons didn't capitalize inside of the Redzone and Mayfield did what good teams do and held the dragons out of the Endzone. The Dragons again had some very good drives in the second half to either stall out with penalties or turnovers, and Mayfield tacked on two more touchdowns for the final score. I think Mayfield will move the ball on Beechwood, but I don't think the Mayfield defense will be able to even come close to stopping Beechwood enough to win that game. I hope for a great game between those two. I'm so proud of the Dragons and the year they have had, and can't wait to watch them next year. They return the house again, and should be very very good. Thank you to the seniors for an amazing turnaround this year and the great foundation you built for the next few years of Dragon football. Also, Blake Houchens is as good any back I've seen this year, and he should start to get some looks from big time schools around our area, he had a huge night for the Dragons and gave Mayfield fits the entire night. He returns next year and should be ever better.
