28-6. 41 second before half. Green has been inside of the 10 and didn’t score and down to the 10 and got a penalty on fourth down after getting the first down. Killed that drive. The dragons have had success and have really moved the ball, just haven’t cashed in and Mayfield has big played the Dragons.

I’m not sure Mayfield is any better than Taylor County when it comes to just pure athletes. Green has seen its share of big and stronger linemen too, Look no further than Taylor County with a young man with an offer from UK. I like the scheme Mayfield uses much more, and they have a QB who can throw the ball much better than the Taylor QB, and that’s what we will have to stop. It seems Mayfield is much better with play calling and using what you give them. Green hasn’t played a team this year who throws the ball as well as Mayfield, no question on that. If green can stop the run of Mayfield and get pressure on the QB and control the clock, they have a shot in this game. I think some are writing the Dragons off a little to early. They have some really nice players themselves, and I can’t wait for them to get the chance to show it Friday.

I can't really say on that team, I've never had the chance to see any video on them, I was much to young to watch them. They must have been very good that year as well, but I can't give a good argument about how good they really were other than they beat Mayfield at Mayfield that year, which leads one to believe they must have been very talented. They also had Mike Deaton, who is more than likely the best athlete to ever come out of Green County.

The Dragons made a huge jump from last year to this year, they returned almost every single starter from the year prior, and its showed, along with a great new scheme and set up from Coach Phelps. This team is a very solid team. I'd say the 2000 thru 2002 teams were better, along with the 2007 and 2008 teams. Id argue the best Green County team of all time is the 2007 Dragon team, it has to be the most talented and deep Dragon team of all time Imo. The 2000 team was also very very good, and beat Corbin at Corbin that year. The Dragons have had some really good teams over the years, but never been able to get over the hump.

If Mayfield stays in the 4 man front I think the Dragons will be able to run the ball. I'm not sure Mayfield will do that, and I'd be willing to guess they aren't playing back and are down hill toward the line of scrimmage with linebackers the entire game, but if they don't load the box, I can see the Dragons moving the ball. The issue for me is that Mayfield is so well balanced and has so many weapons' to throw the ball to, its hard to stop that on top of the great back they have as well. He actually scares me more as a Dragon fan than anyone else, he seems to be the engine that makes them go, and if he is going well, they are tough to beat. My heart wants the Dragon's to come in and shock the state, but my head says this may be more than this young Dragon team can do this year. Even with that, the heart wins out and Give me the Dragons 36-35.

I honestly don't know what to expect with this game. The dragons are going to come right after Mayfield, but I'm not sure we can beat Mayfield without throwing the ball some and having some things go our way. Mayfield is also super quick and I think it will be hard to get the edge on them. The Dragons will have to hit them up the middle and try and keep the ball away from Mayfield, something similar to what Murray did the first game. Either way, the Dragons are playing with house money and have had one heck of a year and one to remember.

Big Congratulations to Glasgow. With all the injuries they have sustained, and to put a game like this together, just massively impressive. I hope Glasgow keeps it going next week. Good Luck to the Scotties.

Metcalfe scored after a terrible first drive for the Dragons with multiple flags and a punt that went about 5 yards and the Hornets scored on a fourth and goal, and then Green County went to work and dominated the rest of the game. The Dragons looked like the team from the beginning of the year and I hope they keep that going into next week at Mayfield. The Dragons defense played a great game, but Blake Houchens has to be MVP for the Dragons, that young man played the game of his life tonight. Congratulations to the Dragons and I’ll be making my first trip to Mayfield to watch a game in person.

The Dragons head down to Edmonton to battle the Hornets for the District title. This should be a great game, and I expect the stands to be packed. The first game was a tale of two halves, as the Hornets dominated the first half and the Dragons dominated the second. I expect this to be a back and fourth game and an absolute battle, should be a dandy. Give me the Dragons 36-26

I just have this feeling Taylor wins this game. They seem to be playing the best they have all year, and Glasgow has had some unlucky injuries to some main cogs in the last few weeks. If Hunter Scott was playing id take the Scotties, but with him out, I'm taking Taylor. Taylor 35-21

I could see Mike Griffiths going for this job. He has ties to the school and its a short trip for him to make and he knows how to coach smaller rural schools. I think it would be a good fit.

As an outsider looking in, and not knowing the program all that well other than its historically been one of the best in Kentucky during my lifetime, I wonder if the team actually looked better this year than last, did they get better as the year went along or did they regress and make the same mistakes as the previous years. I know its the first year for this staff, but it seems like they had very similar results as the last coaching staff record wise and score wise, but those things don't always show the growth the team made even with the record, and I haven't seen Highlands play nearly enough for me to know that.

Oh I could see it being played like the first game, but Murray will have to control the ball or they are in trouble. I also expect Mayfield to load the box and make Murray throw the ball. Which is something they didn’t do the first go round. I also have no idea why they stayed with the four man front when Murray had bo intentions of throwing the ball, but I expect them to change that this go round. I hope I’m wrong and it’s a great and close game, but I have a feeling Mayfield wins this one around 35-14 or 42-21.

I think Mayfield beats Murray by 3-4 Tds this go around. They will be motivated and ready to get after it. Good luck to both.

Larue had a ton of kids out to begin the year and finally started getting them back and finally all playing together and have started to gel. Larue has some talented kids, and Coach Jaggers is going to do what gives him the best chance to win and always has a good game plan. Congrats to Larue County.

Green dominated this one from The start, this looked like the dragon team from early in the year and played a very good game. The Dragons had the running clock early in the third and a bunch of kids got playing time. This sets up a huge rematch with Metcalfe county next week. This should be a great game and a massive crowd. Congrats to Monroe county as well, those kids played hard and never gave up.

No question about it. Seymour is such a good player, he is super fast and if he gets the corner, its to the house. He is only going to get better, as he is only a sophomore. Can't wait to watch him play for the rest of this year and the next two years. He is also such a good player on defense for the Dragons, he can play almost any spot of the field.

I’d have to go with Green County as a team. The Dragons are 9-1 and hosting a playoff game Friday night. The turnaround this team has made has been unreal. A team that has won 4 games in 3 years has more than doubled that win total this year alone. Coach Phelps has to be in the coach of the year conversation for 2A. Blake Houchens for Green County also has to be in the conversation for district player of the year and class 2a player of the year. He’s rushed for over 1000 yards, has 63 tackles with 20 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and has caused multiple fumbles and has an interception. Great football player.

No question about it. The Dragons aren't playing good football, no other way around it. At times they look like a really good team, and then at other times, just look like they are going through the motions. If they play like they have the last three or four weeks, we will be lucky to beat Monroe next week. Its been ugly football for 4 weeks now.

Final per the scoreboard. I know E-town is down some, but didn’t expect this type of margin. Catholic has really got it going the last few weeks and look to be a very tough out for someone down the road.

The Dragons scored twice in the first quarter and were driving for a Third Touchdown and fumbled the ball, then the rain really hit and it turned into a slippery mess. Todd Central has some really big guys and looked pretty decent at times, but just couldn’t get much going on offense. I don’t believe Todd got inside of the 30 once tonight. Even with the Dragons turning the ball over multiple times in the rain, they did enough to win in a muddy game. Should be good experience for next week. Hopefully Green can beat Monroe at home and set up a big time rematch with Metcalfe in the second round.

Metcalfe is a very good team. If they hadn’t lost QB Peyton Dial for the year, they would be a top 5 team in class 2A. Metcalfe is very very good up front in the trenches, and are very big across the front. They will be a tough out for most teams not named LCA or Beechwood.
