  1. Even if the game was played in a desert, the "Camels" would not be able to pull off an upset. Another running clock for the Colonels!
  2. Based on the logic that level of recruitment "makes a kid better", I would think Walter would be Number 1 since he has the best scholarship offer to come out of the 9th for this senior class. Frankly, it doesn't matter to where these young men rank. They are all great players and are going to get a free education using their basketball skills! What is the name of your recruitment service?
  3. Cats Paws did okay in the 10th when compared to other travesties. I would move Paris above Scott (without the Jake). And I agree with Brooks that EJ should be moved up one or two spots. I also predict that either Campbell or Mason will upset Clark at least once this year. Time will tell!
  4. These rankings look decent compared to other regions that Cats Paws has disgraced. IMO Dixie (under a new coach) might be closer to the bottom with Beechwood and all the others move up.
  5. Agreed the team's are this year and players are last year. I know SK was ahead of Walton pre season last year although the Bearcats prevailed. It is quite comical.
  6. I was pulling for my Colonels to win this one but wasn't even close. Dixie didn't show up and Highlands has improved so much since I saw them early in the season.
  7. Nice team win Colonels! Mayer, Butler, and Coldiron are beasts!
  8. Is Guenther back at QB for Dixie. Regardless, I like the Red Colonels in this one!
  9. All good problems to have for CCH! It would be great for the 9th Region and the kids's playing times if those that are 8 through 12 on the roster went to other schools. But in all reality, these kids go to CCH for more than just basketball. The values, education, and lifelong friendships they gain are more valuable than basketball. I seriously doubt that any Junior basketball players would leave to just to play basketball their senior year elsewhere. Plus, they want to win and have a great shot at playing in Rupp. Those that wanted to leave already have. With that said, in talking with a CCH hoops coach recently, the kids that are supposedly hustling the most and putting up numbers in practice are Fredrick, Davin, Ruthsatz, and Fleek - all of which are "draining 3's and driving for short jumpers." Granted the Maher Dynamic Duo are currently playing football. And we all know it is not a great system for bigs like Walter, Thelen, and Greene to score. Can't wait for the season to start and I hope there is more balance in the 9th but there is no immediate site of this!
  10. That doesn't sound like a sponsorship but rather they signed an exclusive agreement in order to get discounted pricing.
  11. This reminds me of a story I heard from a few years back. A NKY 8th grade basketball coach (and non parent) was drinking with parents immediately before coaching their children in a tournament game. Yes, the coach was drinking with the kids present before coaching them! One of the parents didn't like it and challenged the school for the coaches dismissal, an apology, or something to this effect. Apparently the school athletic council had no problem with it and supported the coach 100%. So the parent pulled his son from the remaining games. He was by far their best player and leading scorer. They lost the rest of their games without him. With that said, I support a school or organizations rules. Some post no tailgating signs in their lots so parents gather elsewhere - which I am fine with. If organizations want to sell alcohol to raise money for an organization, I support that. Someone referenced Turners. It is a bar, so their rules allow legal age drinking. And they use the proceeds to do great things for kids wanting to play sports! Parents know this when they sign up to play in a Turners league. I fully support this. I just hope no one is drinking and driving - especially with their children!!!!!
  12. This is a great thread! I am glad that all of you agree that people should stand in respect of the anthem / flag and everything they stand for. And I am also glad you agree that politics should stay in political arenas. Yesterday it felt like the press and owners supported the players not wanting to stand and this saddened / sickened me. I know in my heart that most Americans are proud to sing the national anthem and like me, get goose bumps with the Air Force does a fly by over a stadium. Honestly, I am not sure how kneeling during the anthem would help prevent police brutality, save black (or any) lives or make a statement to Washington. It is the wrong forum all together! The NFL should enforce their policy referenced earlier in this thread and fine all of their athletes who break their clearly stated rules! And if High School kids and teams choose to disrespect the anthem, shame on them... their players shouldn't play! God Bless America!
  13. I saw Moore play against Moeller and he is a beast. IMO he will take down the honors of Mr KY. Where is the best place to see players stats in KY?
  14. I am confused by all of this. Didn't Ryle beat CCH 2 of the last 3 years in football and was a favorite for the state championship last year before losing a heart breaker to Scott County by 2 points. Didn't Cooper beat CCH in the basketball region championship this year and play for a state championship? Didn't Connor beat CCH in the 9th region baseball tourney this year? Teams schedule CCH for competition, bragging rights, because they happen to be in the same region, and to get better in prep for the playoffs! Kids come and go from different schools all the time. I know kids that have left Boone County for CCH and wound up at Highlands. I know others who have left CCH for Beechwood, Boone, and Cooper. The list goes on and on ...
  15. Congrats Lex Cath - I bet they enjoyed their cake ibn the bus ride home!!!
  16. Yes, Marvin needs to go! If it is Dale Mueller, Noel Rash, or the ghost of Owen Hauck, change needs to happen... Yes, Mike Brown is a problem but he isn't the one who: - let's his team fall apart at critical points in the game - that 2016 Wildcard loss to the Steelers was an embarrassment and Marvin should've been fired immediately afterwards - has little player discipline - countless issues - has a horrible offensive scheme - 3rd and 3 and we throw a 2 yard out - can't win a playoff game - it's sad that one of the winning'est coaches in Bengals history has never won in the post season! These things don't consistently happen in New England, Green Bay, Denver, etc.
  17. I've been to all 5 and would probably substitute Chicago Pier or Beale Street with Bourbon Street in NOLA. Venice is a combination of a freak show & Flea Market, with SoCal sunshine, the Beach, beautiful sunsets, a world class skate park, pickle ballers, hipsters, hoopsters, and let's not forget muscle beach. Beale Street (there is no "H") has an amazing live Blue's scene. Just don't venture one block off because it is a very dangerous city. Nashville has grown so much and the prices have sky rocketed with it: beer, parking, hotels, food, etc. Thursdays are the new Friday and Saturday because you can still catch great live country music but avoid the over crowded street full on weekends with Bachelorette parties. You can also enjoy great indoor concerts and sporting events at Bridgestone Arena. Be sure to attend once during the SEC tourney when a sea of Wildcat fans take over Broadway. Times Square is a great tourist attraction to visit at night for the lights but there are so many other wonderful spots in NYC like Central Park, Little Italy and China Town, The Village and SOHO, and a stop by Rockefeller is always fun. If you do go to Times Square - be sure to take in a Broadway show. Bourbon Street in NOLA offers everything that Beale Street does and then some while on a much broader scale. Great music, bars, Jazz Clubs, hotels, people watching, Oyster Houses, parades and just off Bourbon there are amazing antique shops...
  18. I agree that it should Beechwood and Paintsville on top. Beechwood will be 3-1 after they lose to 5A Cov Cath this week. Expect to see Raceland go deep into the playoffs. Would like to see Paris succeed!
  19. IMO it will be a fight between two teams: GRC and Campbell! Mason may be able to make a run at it but they don't have much depth. Better teams will stop Pendleton when they key on Allen - even if he averages 20 PPG. The magic of "The Jake" is gone and Scott will not be able to compete with the top teams. I'm liking GRC's tough schedule to start - that builds character! I wish all the teams the best of luck and looking forward to hoops season.
  20. Nice win for the Pandas this week! I am going to try to attend the match.
  21. I'd put Newport in the top 5 of the 9th along with CCH, Cooper, Dixie, and New Cath. Did I miss anyone?
  22. When you say "they", are you saying all the kids that left HC have been cleared? Or simply Macke has bee cleared to play at Highlands? And where do you go to lunch? Sounds like a great place for conversation! ;-)
  23. This is a horrible thread ... If someone wants to say what is really going on, that would be great. I am pretty certain WV would be solid without any transfers.
  24. I am always confused when Kunkel ranks blow Fredrick when in head to head play, Kunkel has dominated. Just shows that I don't know much about KHSAA basketball ...
  25. Isn't there a rule in KY? Each team classification can only play so many games. If there is an A team and B team for JV, then they can only combine to play 10 games or whatever the JV total is ...
