  1. There are some references to it in an AAU thread referencing Bolus ...
  2. Yeah, playing time will continue to be a struggle for some kids at CCH. Fleek and Michael Maher should see equal time off the bench as subs for AJ (if he plays depending on football offers). The Maher - Maile blood line at CCH may hurt Fleek. Aiden Ruthsatz plays too much and the other point guards (Lenihan, Nowak, and Luke Thelen) should see more PT but coach likes to get his son minutes. Thelen should only be used as a sub for Walter as they are both great 5's but can't move with the ball in CCH's up tempo offense. Davin and Fredrick should own the minutes at the 2 and 3 spots with their uncle Joe calling the shots. Deere, Fleek, and Michael Maher may also sub there. For the coaches, these are good problems to have ...
  3. Sounds to me like a lot of excuses and that CCH pitchers and fielders got shelled by Connor while CCH couldn't produce against Connors pitchers and fielding...
  4. I will elaborate some on this. - The camps and rankings are purely a business as Bolus doesn't watch these kids because he is too busy cashing checks. - An AAU tourney this weekend was $10 per person to get in and hosted at Lloyd High School. The games I saw were in the auxiliary gym and the floor was so old and slippery that the boys were sliding all over the place - Two refs were running one game that were as old as the floor (easily over 70 years old) and they couldn't keep up - the refs actually lost control of the game with some poor officiating - after several physical fouls, a pushing match led to a coach getting punched by a player followed by benches clearing and several players fighting, getting body slammed to the floor, and one coach kicking another in the head several times. - The bleachers then cleared and there were parents pushing and shoving while others worked to get the melee under control. - the Erlanger PD had finally stepped in and got it under control and two paramedics were on the scene to offer medical assistance - I felt like I was on Jerry Springer - Bolus wasn't anywhere near this when it all occurred - while they cancelled this game with ten minutes to go, Bolus allowed both teams to stay in the tournament as opposed to refunding their money - One player and one coach had to sit out a game - he called it a tournament but there were no brackets and clearly defined winner but rather each time just played 3 games then went home - teams from Columbus were asking for their money back - most were embarrassed to be a part of it
  5. I watched some of the 10th grade games. The best game was between the NKY Squad and Ohio Nova - which went to OT with Nova squeaking by. Fleek from Cov Cath led all scorers and Miles from Walton must have had 10 blocks and 10 rebounds. The all tournament team included: Miles from Walton Fleek from Cov Cath Jones from Walton Unfortunately I couldn't get the names or schools of the boys from out of state.
  6. Some of the teams included: 9th grade Addidas Probound Ohio Force Pro Cats 10th grade Ohio Nova (Columbus, OH) Impact Renegades NKY Squad (Walton Verona, SK, and Cov Cath kids) NKY Legends (Newport and Covington kids) 11th grade KY Premier Lexington Future Dayton Metro Indiana Dream Tennessee Mainstream
  7. The only team in KY to beat BG this year is Cov Cath - by 17. They did it with incredible shooting - and Cooper is knocking em down right now! It's been a crazy tourney with BG dominating rhe powerhouse of Scott County then squeaking by the one man show of Scott HS. I'm going with Cooper's shooting and their 1 3 1 D. Bring the trophy back to NKY and the 9th region!!!!
  8. Wow, sounds like an amazing game! I'm glad Kenton County will be represented at Rupp! Congrats Eagles!!!!
  9. My point is CCH is not as deep as touted or the coaches don't trust their bench if they only sub one player. - it's not injuries! Sure, Nowak is hurt and they missed his defense but offense was CCH's problem. Davin is hurt but he is a wild card as no one has seen him play Varsity ever. Lenihan didn't play while Ruthsatz didn't come out although he didn't do anything tonight. Fleek, Thelen and Deere can contribute but didn't play. But you are right, regardless of any of this, the Jags clearly earned the victory!!!!
  10. Congrats to the Jags! Kunkel is a stud and was clearly the best player on the court. Maybe Indiana, Iowa, Xavier, and the others that have supposedly visited Park Hills should make a trip to Union! Ruthsatz clearly got out coached by Sully. Great game plan by the Jags! Jags broke CCH's back in the 3rd quarter. CCH started the quarter up 5 and ended it down 5. CCH didn't know what to do against Cooper's 1 3 1 defense. They threw the ball into the top defender 5 times in a row. Not sure why Jake Walter passed up 9 (I counted) one foot jump shots / dunks. He should have had 20 points. I'm baffled! Everyone says how deep CCH is but I only saw 6 kids play. Cooper will represent well at Rupp!!
  11. Should be a great game! Potential starters & interesting matchups: Cooper Kunkel guards CVH (these first four are interchanegable) Hendrix guards Fredrick S McNeil guards Walters C McNeil guards Ruthsatz Runion guards Maher (or do they play more Zone when Walters is in??) CCH Fredrick guards Hendrix CVH guards Kunkel Ruthsatz guards C McNeil AJ Maher guards S McNeil Walters guards Runion (??) (or maybe they play Zone when Walters is in??) If Cooper gets 3 players in double digits, they win. If CCH has Walters get a double double, they win. If both of the above happen, then it goes to OT and last possession wins! ;-)
  12. Hasn't there only been one round so far - 4 games? There is still great potential for two or three really good games that can go either way. If you look at the scores, the 9th region appears to be the same - the teams that were expected to win have had small leads at half that they extended into larger victories. I will say that Louisville and Lexington appear to have had some good Regional matchups and terrific games.
  13. I had the opportunity to see MC and Cozart play last month and was thoroughly impressed by his defense and shot blocking - he can definitely change the game. His shot still needs some development but he has plenty of time to work on it. Looking forward to seeing him play more over the next couple of years. Congrats to MC!
  14. CCH coach Fredrick does a good job getting the college coaches to their games and practices and even has special workouts for the college coaches. I am not sure if this is just for his nephew but regardless, it's great exposure.
  15. It's looks like the cats are peaking at the right time. I hope they can make a game of it against the Jags.
  16. Congrats to the Ballard players, coaches, and fans! Seems like it was a low scoring game for the two thoroughbreds.
  17. I am also seeing comments about Newport, Cooper and a Dixie player. What team or players would you like throw into the ring?
  18. What happened in the Ballard and Trinity game(s) during the season?
  19. It sounds like Cooper and Newport should be good. However it is a different level at CCH: - 4 starting Juniors return (Walter, Maher, Ruthsatz, CJ), two other current Juniors also contribute as well as a Sophomore (Davin) who was injured all year - their JV team was the first ever to go undefeated (led by sophomores Thelen, Fleek, and Deere along with the Freshmen Maher - all of which would start varsity elsewhere) - their freshmen team dominated KY schools by an avg margin of victory of over 25 points Not sure how CCH is going to keep them all happy. Expect them to be playing in Rupp multiple times over the next few years!
  20. CCH will be tops with little competition - IMO. Fredrick and Kunkel are two of the best players and the rest will depend on off season development but expect Jake Walter, AJ Maher, and Aiden Ruthsatz to be in the top 10. Schreck from Dixie will be a contender. But I agree, this season isn't over. This would be a great post / topic for next week or later in March.
  21. Yes, Spindoc, in some aspects the court is the same size such as the 15' free throw line - don't take everything so literal. Here is the classic movie clip from Hoosiers:
  22. Go Bearcats! I hope to see a small school pull this off and would love to see coach Brannen taking his players into Rupp with a tape measure to show them that the court and goal is the same size ... If not this year, expect it before the current sophomore class graduates!
