Holy Cross was up 24 at one point in the third and Holmes cut it as low as 8. Calloway took over and HC struggled from the line. Maddox Hoffman was clutch going 6/6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Calloway ended the game with 47. Meyer led Holy Cross with 35 breaking the Holy Cross all time scoring record previously held by Joe Harney. Survive and advance.

I have seen both play but didn’t see the game last night. I would say it’s just a bad matchup. Ryle doesn’t go very deep and they have a ton of talent just not necessarily a ton of ballhandlers. That is a tough match up when Notre Dame probably plays 10 and a quick in your face defense/press. That is not meant to diminish the skill set of anybody on their team by any stretch. They are just different types of teams.

How would you run the offense differently given the personel they have?

Could have but that is part of the game. Holy Cross could have been tired Friday against Brossart after playing on Mon, Tues and a triple header against Conner on Thursday, but as I said it is part of the game. When Holy Cross is hitting their threes they are a tough team to beat. This was a really fun game to watch.

I accidentally put a post in the boys oops. It was a really good game. It was a close back and forth game with the Indians up 28-26 at the half. Mercy went up by three with less than a minute left. HC fooled Mercy missed their front end and HC had the ball with the opportunity to tie but couldn’t score. They quickly fouled and Mercy hit their free throws to go up by 5 with 15 seconds left. HC couldn’t score. It was a really good game. Holy Cross passed well and was hitting their threes. It was of their best games IMO

I thought they were at the line a lot but 38 is a ton. I would say less than ten were from end of game fouling. Lots of fouls by the Indians last night. I thought it was a bold call for the Mustangs to foul with a minute left down only two in regulation but the Indians couldn’t capitalize on the free throw opportunities so it worked.

Brossart hit their free throws in the fourth quarter and overtime while the Indians struggled at the line. The Indians were in foul trouble early with Arlinghaus and Wimzie both picking up two in the first quarter. Hunt fouled out towards the end of the fourth and Wimzie the beginning of overtime. Brossart made shots when they had to and came away with the win in a good back and forth game. The Mustangs looked much improved from summer ball.

I disagree. While my husband and I will pay the $10 each to get in, I start feeling guilty asking aunts and uncles or grandparents to ante up. Last night all the little cousins came to watch my son and nephew's senior night. I can't ask my school teacher siblings to spend $50 to take their kids to watch a high school basketball game. As is it costs them $19 for two parents and three elementary kids and that is at our place that is $5/3. We have paid up to $8 for a regular game and $10 for tournaments and "showcases" this year. Heck this year between my son and daughter we would have paid over $600 in entrance fees if it weren't for my husband's coach's pass. That is more than some can afford.

This is actually the first time I have seen Meyer close to normal since his injury against Lloyd a couple of weeks ago. I think the Indians didn't play their best the past couple of weeks because they were missing their best player or he was playing injured.

Beechwood shot out to a 6-0 lead the the Indians had a run of their own to lead by ten at the half. The third quarter was all Beechwood outscoring the Indians 16-4 in the first four minutes. It was back and forth and the third quarter ended in a tie. The fourth quarter was also back and forth. Holy Cross was killing themselves with turnovers while Beechwood was playing nice defense. The tide turned for Holy Cross when Beechwood had what looked like another take away. Senior Cade Lehmkuhl dove for the ball and was able to grab it and throw it from the ground to Meyer who hitting a three. Holy Cross hit their free throws at the end of the game to get the second seed in the district. Meyer and Ward were the leading scorers for Holy Cross and beechwood was led by Boyd and Gabbard.

Holy Cross and Beechwood are cancelled but rescheduled for tomorrow since it is a district seeding game. It doesn’t help for today but should be a good game tomorrow.

The Indians played a deep bench with a nine player rotation without Meyer or Ward. There size was just too much for Ludlow. Zach Arlinghaus, Ryan Pulsfort and Dylan Arlinghaus all had nice games.

Breathitt out shot and out rebounded the Indians. The Indians were losing most of the first half but took the lead briefly in the third quarter. Breathitt hit a long last second three to go up three at the end of the third and kept the lead the rest of the game. The Indians shot 27% from what I heard the first half. Not to make excuses or take anything away from Breathitt but the Indians looked flat and I can’t help but wonder if playing two games that starter at 1030 pm and not leaving the gym until midnight had an effect.

The Indians were led in scoring by Julia Hunt. They had a 14 point halftime lead which the Lions cut to 7 at the end of the third quarter but the Indians opened the fourth with a 6-0 run and didn’t look back. Once again they were able to clear the bench getting all the players in. Semifinals tomorrow at noon against Owen County.

The Indians led by Jacob Meyer and Javier Ward defeat Sayre to move on to the second round of the All A. Nice rebounding game with several blocked shots by Sam Gibson and nice defense by Maddux Hoffman.

I guess I made the wrong assumption that it was up to date. Sorry. This is what I was going by.

I think Holy Cross has a good chance of moving down. Their total enrollment as listed on the KHSAA website for this year is 337. From what I know about the school that sounds about right if not a little high. Half of that is 168.5. The largest 1A was 191 boys. As you said though it depends on what other teams do. It would be good for Holy Cross. They might be able to be competitive. They have really struggled the past several years. This year they were 4-8 but graduated 11 from their 28 man roster so will be rebuiding again.

The Indians scored the first 20 points of the game and couldn’t miss. Paris fought back but I don’t think they ever got it below 13. Paris had a couple of bigger girls who had a body on Hunt the entire game. She still came away with a triple double and Robinson had a great shooting game. Wimzie also had a nice game. Starting with that big lead allowed HC to rotate subs in giving the starters a couple minute breaks almost every quarter.

Notre Dame also somehow manages to keep 30 to 40 kids in the program. I understand smaller school struggling to keep that many kids but I never understood why some of the big schools did not. Ryle is one that I have always wondered about. They have what 1600 students in their school? I wonder if when the girls come in as freshman they see several superstars some of which are underclassmen already on the varsity team and decide to find a different sport because they know their varsity time may be limited. I have absolutely no idea if that is the reason it is just the only thing I can think of as to why there is no depth in a school of that size. And maybe it is just a coaching style. Some coaches do not go deep on their bench. It is a double edge sword. You don’t go deep because there’s a big drop off but the girls at the end never develop because they never play.
