Newport Central Catholic 74 Covington Holy Cross 71

Nice win for NCC. They were up 13 in 4th. Meyer and gang kept bringing it. Meyer with 40. 25 I think in 2nd half.

This Breds win might suggest that they are hitting their stride, and the other question is has Holy Cross already peaked? Funny time of the season when some teams are beginning to gel at the right time, while others might already have had their season's heyday.

So, what was the final score?

Already peaked? Come on now. Holy Cross had won 9 of 11 before tonight and lost by 3. Give NCC credit here.

It's worth the thought. I gave credit to the Breds by saying this win suggested that they were hitting their stride. I didn't difinitively say that Holy Cross had peaked, but wondered if possibly they have. It's an interesting part of the season, and while some teams have already had a lot of success thus far, some are coming into their own. I sincerely hope that Holy Cross still has more to give, and they make a deep run into the 9th Region tournament. With all of the various games this evening going one way or another I can't but help to ponder which direction each team in the 9th is going.

This is actually the first time I have seen Meyer close to normal since his injury against Lloyd a couple of weeks ago.  I think the Indians didn't play their best the past couple of weeks because they were missing their best player or he was playing injured.

My favorite teams. Good for the BREDS and HC too.

Ain't no denying that the Indians can only go as far as Meyer and Ward can take them, and if they're both healthy, which it looks like they are, then it's still game on for them. I like the growing experience of their supporting cast, so that's an added plus to make them a bit more well rounded as they approach the postseason.
