NKY Girls Basketball Top 10 - Week 9

Featured Replies

What a terrific week in NKY Girls' Basketball.  Notre Dame made a run to the semi-finals of the LIT before losing in OT to eventual champion, Bullitt East.  Holy Cross made a run to the semi-finals of the All A Classic at EKU, leading the eventual champions Owen County going to the 4th, narrowly losing by one on a no-time-left free throw.  Very solid performance by both teams away from home!!

This week we have a number of great games, Thursday's impending arrival of heavy snow notwithstanding.  A number of our Top 5 teams will battle it out this week, a couple of our teams take on powers from down-state, and Ludlow and St. Henry play for district seeding and that vaunted #10 spot in our weekly rankings!  ?  Also, before anyone thinks I have lost my mind, I was told by a NewCath parent that their game on Friday vs Holy Cross was canceled, so no, I didn't forget about that game on the schedule.  If I have that info incorrect, I apologize, I'll make sure it is included if in fact they are still playing on Friday -- but the Breds' parent was pretty sure it was off the calendar, in spite of the KHSAA still having it listed.  Okay, without further ado, here is this week's Top 10 and their schedules for the week:

1.  Notre Dame (17-2):  vs #2 Conner and at #4 Dixie (great week of basketball for the Pandas!!!)

2.  Conner (17-3):  at #9 Bishop Brossart, at #1 Notre Dame and vs Boone County

3.  Ryle (14-6):  vs #5 Cooper (huge district seeding game), vs Sacred Heart (!!!), and at Scott

4.  Dixie (17-5):  at Villa Madonna, vs #10 Ludlow, and vs #1 Notre Dame

5.  Cooper (13-8):  at #3 Ryle (HUGE), vs #8 Simon Kenton, and vs Lafayette

6.  Holy Cross (15-9):  vs Holmes

7.  NewCath (15-7):  vs Beechwood

8.  Simon Kenton (13-9):  at Williamstown, at #5 Cooper, and at Anderson County (!!!)

9.  Bishop Brossart (14-7):  vs #2 Conner, at McNicholas (OH), at Villa Madonna

10. Ludlow (19-6):  at #4 Dixie, at Augusta, vs St. Henry (big district seeding game)

Others to watch:

*  St. Henry (12-9)

*  Walton Verona (10-11)

*  Pendleton County (11-10)

*  Scott (10-13)

*  Highlands (6-12)

*  Campbell County (7-13)

Good luck this week, enjoy all of the great games on the schedule, and hope that the snow misses us on Thursday.  Have a great week!

Nice write up.  Thanks for doing it each week.  The HC-NCC game is cancelled.

Appreciate you saying that @rjal, it means a lot.  I think the girls deserve a lot more love and attention than they get, so I told @theguruI'd put my keyboard where my mouth is.  So to speak.

I'm not perfect, but I try to get it right every week, and I try to have a little fun with it along the way!

This week, and the next couple, are going to be a lot of fun!!  Also, appreciate the confirmation on the Breds and Indians scratching their Friday night game, thank you!

As @Defense_Wins_Games noted in a separate thread, tonight's Conner at Notre Dame game has been cancelled due to weather. Status of other NKY Thursday games:

Sacred Heart at Ryle - cancelled. ?

Simon Kenton at Cooper - cancelled.

Highlands at Boone Co. - cancelled.

Holmes at Holy Cross (35th District) - cancelled. Rescheduled for Feb. 8.

Ludlow at Augusta - postponed. Reschedule TBD.
