Breathitt County wins 75-59 over Covington Holy Cross in the second round of the All A Classic at EKU. They advance on to the semifinals tomorrow. 
 

Late game finishing around 11:45pm. 
I don’t have any stats or other details, just a text from a friend at the game. 

Breathitt out shot and out rebounded the Indians.  The Indians were losing most of the first half but took the lead briefly in the third quarter.  Breathitt hit a long last second three to go up three at the end of the third and kept the lead the rest of the game.   The Indians shot 27% from what I heard the first half.  Not to make excuses or take anything away from Breathitt but the Indians looked flat and I can’t help but wonder if playing two games that starter at 1030 pm and not leaving the gym until midnight had an effect.

Breathitt Co also had a late game the night before so the playing floor was even.

Well, Breathitt played the game before Holy Cross on Thursday, meaning their game ended two hours earlier. Not making an excuse for either team but the situations weren’t exactly the same.

Two hours to a high school kid means absolutely nothing. Both teams played well, best team won, and without excuses.

"Looked flat" is one of my pet peeve sports terms. It is a go to crutch when a team gets outplayed. It actually is a term that makes things look even worse for the losing team IMO. "Looked flat" means the team wasn't ready, wasn't focused, wasn't prepared, etc ... all those are squarely on the shoulders of the losing team. You stated in your opening sentence they got outplayed. I highly doubt it is because they were "flat" with a state championship on the line.

HC did not look flat.  They played hard and got beat.  A big reason for that is their PG was playing at a lot less than 100%.  They have a great coaching staff and will bounce back. Move on.  Next game.
