Last year's freshman offensive line actually played well as a unit, the depth at skill positions and QB play were the weak spots from that team.

I don't think it is a bad move at all, it keeps early round playoff games at least close to home. I feel Highlands is on their way back up anyway.

Coach Woolf will surely be missed at Ryle and Campbell County is lucky to have him. My oldest son played for him and it is sad that my younger son won't get to now. Everybody better look out for those Camels.

This may be a relatively competitive district if that is the case.

Health, these student athletes put it all out there and it can be over in an instant. We need all these kids to play smart, non-wreckless football.

There is no doubt an advantage for private schools, district boundaries kind of disappear and public schools have a hard time keeping up, it is what it is. If you wanted to have private school championships, you might be better off doing it regionally and have teams from several states competing. It would also make for great TV and exposure for the student athletes on any of those teams. It probably would boost their enrollment as well being on a bigger stage.

Why has nobody even mentioned the best player in 6A (JAKE CHISHOLM)?

Miami is a great school and the coaching staff there is making strides with the program. Both Mayer and Butler will make the team that much better.

This year's CovCath team is not really comparable to the program's recent years. Last year's team was very good but not at this level. X and especially Trinity always are at a level that CovCath couldn't get to. I like this coaching staff to keep them on the upward climb, that is the biggest difference in high school sports. They may be there is a couple years, we need to wait and see.

Probably so. I am waiting for sustained success from NKY 6A schools, it just seems that the larger public schools just don't get the kind of talent numbers as the schools in Louisville.

Beechwood is already a dynasty type of program. CovCath has had a great year this year but will they be able to sustain momentum beyond this season. I do see Highlands getting back to being Highlands but other than those 3, NKY doesn't have a program that can sustain long championship runs.

Non-competitive teams shouldn't be in the playoffs. Why add "insult to injury" to a program that struggles through the season. You could probably still have some at-large bids get in but teams that don't have winning records shouldn't be in the tournament.

Not every team belongs in a playoff situation. If you want to eliminate 1st and 2nd round blowouts, then don't let every team from every district in. You should combine districts to 6-8 teams and only let the top 4 in from every district. 3 & 4 team districts are a joke.

My main point is don’t announce they are the BEST EVER NKY team when you still have a few more rounds of the playoffs to go. Last years Ryle team was pretty stacked and were a little better than this years CovCath team.

I agree, this would be good.

Trinity by a bunch, NKY is way down this year. Only CovCath and Beechwood are truly great in their classes.

I would like to have seen this CovCath team play last years Ryle team. I personally feel that Ryle team would beat this CovCath team by a couple scores.

I was thinking the same thing but I think Ryle was the only team in the state last year that could compete with Trinity. Their game against Scott county had some key guys go out with injuries and they still should have won that game but came up just a little short.

Injuries take a toll on a team, Ryle has seen this before in the past and they should be proud of the season they had.

Anybody can be beaten or have a bad game. That being said, I still doubt it will happen this year.

I am perplexed by this. On one hand you want to put a team out of their misery early and getting the running clock and putting in back-ups will prevent you from running up the score and on the other hand, you want your starters to get the kind of minutes to prepare them for future games. Either way, you trust your coaching staff to make the right decision for the situation you are in.
