Who cares? 6A football is the biggest sham of any sport in Kentucky. Talk about the haves and have nots, the disparity between the top and bottom is probably the biggest around. The KHSAA now finds it reasonable to protect certain schools by manipulating districts and playoff pairing instead of doing what is geographicallying correct. You have large County Schools out in the state who are so large they are considered 6A having to compete with large city schools. Just a rant that somehow success over history needs to play a part in classification or have anot at large champ from the county schools.

Those KHSAA rosters aren't fully accurate, don't believe till you see it. If he is eligible then the KHSAA is a farce, might as be open season then. I hate for a kid, but he was given bad advice by someone and unfortunately that is the situation.

Riddle me this, how can a small County like Butler have indoor facility but Bigger, more lucrative districts in Warren Co. and Daviess Co. and others not have one? Surely handicapping these schools, maybe KHSAA can make a rule governing this. Lol

It is a sad situation when high school sports are now manipulated by outside agencies and adults with their own agendas. If the KHSAA allows either of these kids to play this year they will lose whatever small bit of credibility they have left. Might as well just make it open enrollment and let kids move wherever they want and let boosters foot the bill!

HC was a mess this year, Lewis ran the spread offense at the beginning of the year and at the end they ran it 35 times a game, if not for Carter they probably wouldn't have won a game. No passing game, period. Whoever they bring in has a long road ahead and zero chance of winning a district as long as the McCrac-a-monster is in their district.

Unexpected outcome, some 2A schools will be wanting to know the secret to holding this potent offense to 2 offensive scores.

I guess I'm old School but this picture of the South Warren kids is distasteful. If I was the coach at South I would want this picture taken down as I see it's not a good representation of his program. I remember at my school a player was caught making a W sign with his fingers in a picture and he was suspended for a game and ran for an hour after practice. Again I guess I'm too old school. Guess the times are changing!

Some high schools are also handcuffed by the fact that one middle school is split between 2 high schools. Happens all the time in larger systems. Also some high schools who are spread have middle school coaches who believe they can't run a spread in middle school, these 2 scenarios make it a hindrance.

How does a guy ever get experience if no one gives him a shot. Matt Brannon is a longtime assistant at DC and KWC, well liked by the kids and parents. Sounds like a homerun to hire a young enthusiastic assistant who is hungry. In Western KY right now there are lots of nice jobs: Madv. North, Warren Central, Warren East and Owensboro. If I was Smart I'd make a run at OHS, they run the veer his specialty, his Grayson teams have beaten OHS before and there may be some teaching jobs open when Prince leaves. I know that is an issue at most schools, what jobs are available.

How long will a school wait? I know they want to get the best coach possible, but how willing are they to delay the off season workouts and installations? With jobs the way they are now in schools, they don't know about any new openings typically till April. And most districts are penny pinching as it is, so creating new jobs doesn't happen like it used to. What about the assistants on staffs are they willing to run the off season not knowing if they are going to be back next season?

I know of other situations where if he enrolled before the move then he'll have lots of trouble. Also Ohio County might not release him right away. Khsaa also is slow about getting paperwork back I've heard, so I'd bet he doesn't play til after Valentines day at best. I do not believe Apollo was out recruiting, but nowadays with kids all knowing each other, I don't doubt there were kids telling him to come to Apollo. But a school can't control that. I'm always intrigued by these situations to see if they really work out. In football I've seen kids bounce from school to school never really working out. Also would Apollo be Ok with Wright and Young transferring after this season, or their best football players transferring to DC, OHS or OCath? If the shoe was on the other foot would there be an outcry by Apollo fans? Just a hypothetical.

. That is fine if he sits, that's why the NCAA has the rules it does, to not allow buddying up by summer team players via transfer. What ever happened to school and community pride? I enjoyed playing with the kids I grew up with, not jumping ship.

Khsaa should investigate, but they won't. They'll let it slide like they do everything. Just gives more power to those schools to go after the best players who are on struggling teams. Its a shame, this is high school, not the NCAA.

Hearing all these coaches forced out makes me think these Principals and Superintendents are thinking their schools are in the SEC West. I thought high school football was about building character and life lessons. Last time I checked most public high schools can't recruit athletes so they have their hands tied with that. I understand if they were stealing money or abusing Kidd but if a coach is running a sound program and producing young men who get it done in the classroom and life, IMO they should never be let go. In most jobs in KY, I understand some programs you've got to win at, this list has only 1 job like that, McCracken.

Wonder how well the city games will draw since they aren't the 1st three games of the year from what I've heard. As the season goes on crowds dwindle, especially if you're out of contention. Saw on the other board mater dei is a catholic school bowl. That is an interesting concept to say the least.

Who says they have to play the city schools? I'm sure DC and Apollo wouldn't mind not playing O'Cath? I don't think people realize that every school is trying to schedule wins. So outside of district it's tough to find games if you are a winning team or a large school. I'm sure losing schools have no shortage of people wanting to play. But they are scrounging trying to schedule winnable games too. All that matters at the end of the season is your record, regardless if you played all top 10 teams and lost, you're still 0-10.

Hit the nail on the head here, how many large 6A schools have enormous enrollments but can't compete with school's with 1,000 less kids in them. In KY basketball is easily practiced at home and requires no equipment that it can be a small school thing, but football requires so many kids that a larger athletic population will win more games. Hard work is going away with our kids, and the willingness of kids to give up their summers to practice in pads in the heat is going away too. It is much easier to practice in no pads kicking a soccer ball or pounding the round ball all summer and winter long in the gym.

How many Louisville schools lost to teams outside of Louisville? Maybe KHSAA should research to going back to at large and Louisville champs. Just because schools are big out in the state doesn't mean they have athletes walking the halls. Or leveling based on past performances and history. It would make for far more interesting playoff games. 3 classes and a super class of all the best teams in the state, then state titles would mean something and the smaller and less football historical teams could compete. Think of how many schools lost money traveling yo far away schools for 1st round losses. KHSAA should pay for travel in the playoffs if there going to make you go across state for 1st round games. Bet they'd change things tthen.

Still think size of the school doesn't matter. Let the strength of recent years determine what class you're in. That would eliminate some lopsided games. 11 game regular season and only top 2 make it to playoffs. Would really help KY football. You can't tell me Mayfield couldn't hold it's own vs. Many 5A and 6A programs. A district of Mayfield, McCracken, Graves, Christian. Would be awesome for competitive football, then let less competitive programs classify into their own class.

Have 4 classes and put teams according to their strength as a program. If you make the playoffs you stay in your class, make the final 4 and you move up a class. Don't make the playoffs and you drop down After a 2 year period. Reclassify based upon the 2 years. In 6 years you'll have teams in the appropriate classes. Wouldn't you love to see a district of Graves, McCracken, Bowling Green, Henderson and Owensboro in Kentucky's elite class. Then these weaker programs could level down to where they belong and could be competitive. Imagine Muhlenberg, Marshall, Ohio, McLean, and Logan in a district. That would be fun and competitive for them.

Secretly I'd bet OHS fans are relieved. A little reality check is a good thing late in the year after a cushy end to the season. Now they can focus their kids for a deep playoff run.

Heard JV and Freshman played most of 2nd half, classy move not to run it up on an 0-10 team.

Goes to show you football is won at the line of scrimmage. Plug any athlete into McCracken's backfield and they'll do fine against most teams on their schedule. Better hope they're back for playoffs or it'll be 1 and done. Heard in the Daviess game they had alot of issues with unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. Maybe this is a carryover from that too.

What about the difference in 6A roster sizes and enrollment numbers. Scott County has 1,217 kids, while Boone has 726, that is a difference of 491 kids, the difference in 1A is just Fulton City and Beechwood is 134 kids. I've seen 6A schools with 20 kids dressed and some with 100 kids dressed. Those smaller sizes are never going to compete with the larger schools. If you really want to make things competitive go to 4 or 5 classes and let teams move up and down based on if they make the Final 4 in that class(they move up a class), make the playoffs they stay in that class, miss the playoffs(they move down a class). Base it on 2 year cycles, that way the weaker programs will end up in the same classes and the stronger programs will end up together. Or let you schedule whoever you want and allow the playoffs to be filled out by a ranking system. Something does have to change , because of all the blowouts in the 1st round of the playoffs. Make 11 game schedules and only let in the top 2 in districts. Something has to change though.
