Two teams that weren't in 4A last year, one higher, one lower, head to the top of the class in year one and meet in possibly the marquee matchup across the state right out of the gate. Many consider this a preview of an expected rematch in the state semifinals. Who takes round one?

This to me should be the game of the week in the west. SW has a defense that is truly tough and tested. They also bring back almost everyone. JH is just a very balanced program that is battle tested. This and this alone gives the advantage to JH. Even though this will fee like a home game for south. This will be low scoring and a very tough battle.

South may have a hard time if #8 can't get his wardrobe issue figured out.

I think South Warren will win this match up. They have all seniors returning from last years 13-1 team. I expect that will be the difference early in the season. John Hardin is still a young team with high expectations. I hope JH wins, but I think South is the early pick.

Just think this is a bad spot for JH right out of the gate, basically at South Warren, and just on the heals of the Weatherspoon disruption doesn't make me think JH can win this game. But the potential rematch is a different story for a different thread.

I've said that John Hardin could pull off the win against the Spartans, I just believe it'll be in the playoffs. I see JH being down a few touchdowns but finds a way to score too late, SW wins 21-14.

John Hardin 23-20.

South Wins 24-7 in what looks to be a good game on paper. In the end, experience, coaching, and a team first mentality win out. #300Crew #SpartanNation

I guess I'm old School but this picture of the South Warren kids is distasteful. If I was the coach at South I would want this picture taken down as I see it's not a good representation of his program. I remember at my school a player was caught making a W sign with his fingers in a picture and he was suspended for a game and ran for an hour after practice. Again I guess I'm too old school. Guess the times are changing!

South Warren 35 John Hardin 21. John has some key transfers in the program this year, I see them developing into a nice squad as the season progresses, not a good matchup soo early in the season. John Hardins D-Backs are small and could have trouble against some receivers with size.

John Hardin has always been able to play with anybody. They've only been blown away a couple of times since the school opened. They always rise to the occasion. I think it will be closer than most think. I'll say 21-20 John Hardin. I'm not jumping on that South Warren bandwagon just yet.

I have followed John since 2006 and know their penchant for accumulating penalties and turnovers. In the past they had the talent to overcome this, but they are not back to that level yet. Shay Stone makes too many mistakes at QB, with all that being said, I dont think 35-21 is a blowout, just think John is playing South Warren at the wrong time of the season

Should be a great measuring stick for both of these teams out of the gate. Week 1 is a tricky week to predict matchups like this. I'm going to lean to SW just for the experience factor. 21-14 over John Hardin. But it should be a good one!

All I can say is that the winner of this one gets the bragging rights of 4A for a few weeks.
