Does it really matter who called it? It was the right call, so they got it right. He had the 1st down yardage without the penalty anyway. Are you saying the refs can't see a penalty 10 to 15 yards away, especially a viscous hit like that. It's about time we quit beating this dead horse, because 15 less yards for Highlands wouldn't make a difference in the game at all. Remember, penalty's are usually judgement calls, so it's not who calls it, but how the ref sees it. I also believe the refs had a meeting after the play before they threw the flag, to verify that all the officials were in agreement. So, what happened to the swiss cheese?

We've all heard about Highlands players not looking like football players at all. You know, tall with skinny legs and arms, well to me it looked like the big boys from Cooper were the ones taking the worst part of the physical abuse. I'm not talking at all about the cramping issues either. Great game to watch, both teams gave it their all. I hope all the players on BOTH teams heal their injuries quickly.

Cooper had 3 less turnovers to Highlands and still lost by 10. :lol2: Play like that again against Highlands and Cal loses by 50. Ask Highlands about their campus for the last 101 years. Their football campus was the same until they put in the turf field. The natural grass field collected water that wouldn't drain, so they were playing their games in a giant mud puddle. Locker rooms were just up graded with in the last 5 years or less.

They should, if not it will be a long season for SK.

What do you mean, another down year? Got knocked out in the semi-finals last year. Lots of teams would like to have a down year like that. Believe me, this scrimmage means nothing.

Past, present, future, it's all good. I would put Jason Lynch in the past category. Obviously, Jason won't be walking through the door anytime soon.

Lets not forget CC (Miami, FL. ) was the runner up in the 8A finals that year. Highlands lost a close one to CC , not forgetting Hoge spent most of the 2nd qtr trying to get medical aid for his ankle. If Hoge had played the whole game, who knows what might have happened. CC's coach was very impressed with that Highlands team ,players. coaches and fans. I enjoyed that game very, very much. Both teams showed great class that day. I hope in the near future that Highlands can get some more out of state games.

Highlands is expecting about 3 a day, (you call them transfers,) we call them new hires because they get paid from day 1. :lol2:

There could be millions of reasons that players transfer from one school to another. I was hoping someone would shed some light on the reasons for the transfer. I can't remember the last time someone left HHS to play for another NKY team in football. His decision sounds reasonable to me. Thanks for the info, and I hope he helps NCC bring home a state title. I'm not a Elder fan and Elder isn't my team. Just thought I'd mention the beat down Trinity put on Elder in the pit. It was the worst home loss in Elders history. I'm just not sure of the year and final score. It might have been James Quick's senior year.

I'm thinking those beat downs (as you call them) helped in preparing the Birds for the 5A playoffs. Just curious, are your grades based on the whole season or the finished product. What about the teams that were expected to be better than they were, and had their season end earlier than predicted? Should their grades be lower than what your grades are for Highlands? After reading your post again, the beat downs seemed to have an effect on your grading. I'm just looking for clarification, that's all. Not much difference in our grades, were good.

Preseason thread "contender or pretender" for Highlands says something. Some even saying that HHS would have a losing season. They lost to a couple of good 6A NKY teams, but ended the season on a big playoff run. I give HHS a B+ because they got knocked out in the 5A semi's when nobody gave them a chance.

No, the bottom line is that "THE GOAL" is to win a state title. The road to that goal doesn't run through Ft. Thomas (Highlands), but the road to the 6A state title runs through the "ville." SK will not be considered by many as a state title contender until they regularly beat good 5A and 6A teams or win a playoff game. How many 1A and 2A teams are on the schedule for X, T, and Male? I'll wait.

I agree! Very few Sophomores have started varsity for the Birds, but it has been done. I think the question to the younger players is, "how bad do you want to be part of the program"?
