HHSHOG62 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 A little surprised this wasn't already a thread. Nonetheless, what should we be expecting tonight from the Birds? Key players? Has anyone heard anything about Cincy St. X?
Clyde Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 X has some nice D1 talent. QB Clifford is going to Penn State. 6'4 290 OG Bockhorst is going to Clemson.

Zuzu Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 27-0 St X at half. (I think) HHS D put in a couple bad spots early on. D had one pick. D playing pretty well considering. 3-4 punts. Hard to tell about the offense. X is bringing everyone on D on almost every snap. When QB has time he seems to be OK.
Hellbird Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 This scrimmage makes no sense to me. Not sure what HHS can take away from a game like this other than hope everyone comes out healthy.
Cane Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 How has the birds performed against St X in the past? If they have performed well in the past does this mean another down year for the birds?
gremlin35 Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Last year they didnt fair to well but I beleive the varsity beat them 15-14 when Hodge was quarterback.
5 STAR Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 How has the birds performed against St X in the past? If they have performed well in the past does this mean another down year for the birds? What do you mean, another down year? Got knocked out in the semi-finals last year. Lots of teams would like to have a down year like that. Believe me, this scrimmage means nothing.

Believe me, this scrimmage means nothing. C'mon Jail Bird, you know expectations are higher for the Bluebirds than for 99% of the teams. While many teams would be happy with a semi-final appearance, I don't think that will ever be acceptable to the Birds.
Cane Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 The mighty birds took their lumps against some NKY schools last year. It's a good thing Cooper moved up last year because they would have gone home a week earlier. It was a down year when you get it handed to you by teams you dominated in the past. Again Cooper is still a 5a school by the numbers.

Highlands has played football for 101 years and won how many state titles? They have won about 25% of the time. Sure you want to win it every year, but that just simply is not realistic. I just hope this year they do not wait until their backs are against the wall before changes are made.

Seems like those in the know expected two rough years before things return to more normal levels. Hope they're wrong.

The Birds have one in almost half of those seasons. Looking back over the last decade or so last year was most asuradly a "down" year for Highlands Football...good luck this year.
