We are still here. Just a little relaxed now our kids are moved on. But we still fully support the program. Some of this is hard to watch but we all know it will work out fine in time. I'm sure lot will be full Friday night of lots of said posters.

The Coopers of the world better focus on beating SK and Ryle too. Another win over a team in a lower class might give the Coopers some bragging rights, but it does nothing to move them along the road to a 6A title.

 

I do not think that Cooper has ever not focused on SK, Ryle, Highlands, or whoever is on their schedule that week. I think you can tell that by the last two years they have beat Ryle and the last 3 times out of 4. Last year Cooper played SK to their closest game of the year in the 3rd round of the playoffs and were one play away from leading that game with 50 seconds left. I don't think Hellbird is saying that Cooper believes they are going to win state, but judging how good Highlands will be this year shouldn't be solely on the game this Friday. Cooper did lose a lot but they still have numerous threats on both sides of the ball and I expect this to be a good game for both teams!

 

Good luck to both teams this Friday and for the rest of the season and I hope they make enough improvements throughout the years that both of these teams are playing in December!

Dale Mueller was an outstanding coach and is an outstanding man; what he brought to the program places him on a plane with Homer Rice as the pinnacle of coaches at Highlands.

 

Let's not sell Brian Weinrich short; give him some time to put his stamp on the program as the head guy. We tend to forget he was the assistant head coach during the latter part of Dale's tenure.

 

It is all about the kids and their dedication and motivation. I have been watching Highlands play for 60 years and from what I saw at St. X on Friday night they will show up to play on Friday night.

That's true. It seems like those who's children have graduated have not been replaced by the new blood yet. I don't post near as much as I'm now 6 years removed from knowing much about the players so there's not much I can usually add to a thread.

I'm working on a new crop of Dad's who I know lurk. Maybe Leatherneck will come out of retirement and offer some insight. Still good to hear from some of the old school posters. The lots are always full on Friday nights with parents that is for sure.

It was 41-7 when I left towards the end of the game. I don't know if anyone scored after that.
