Tough place to win. Muhlenberg County is a traditional basketball county with no sustained success or tradition in football. Because they are new and rural, they dont have a traditional rival or no one within 30 minutes inside their district.

I don't care what he charges because prep schools cannot play KHSAA schools. However, if we were going by the old Oak Hill Academy rules where a prep school could play KHSAA schools and they told me that I had to pay $3,500 to film Aspire playing the school I cover 30-35 times a year, then we have a major problem. Grind Session said their logo had to be included in any media filming at their McCracken County event earlier in the month, which included KHSAA schools.

Something to keep in mind, there are eight fewer schools playing football in 2018 than in 2006 because of consolidation. 222 schools divided by four classes is 55.5 schools, which is still 6-7 teams per district. You may have some with five or some with 8. But there wouldn't be three or four team districts. Five classes would mean around 44 teams per class and 4-5 teams per district. There would still be the chance of 0-10 and 1-9 teams getting in. Does anyone else notice that when coaches mention, propose or urge classification of sports, the KHSAA tweaks or changes the football playoff format?

You know what would reduce a lot of travel and keep some of the 0-10 and 1-9 teams out of the playoffs? Reverting back to four classes. When you continually tweak the format, you are just admitting that the current way isn't working. How many tweaks were made from 1984-2006? One. Four teams from a district make the playoffs. That is all. Since the switch to six classes, we have seen cross-bracketing, to intra-district, to cross-bracketing, and now back to intra-district in the first round. We've seen state championship games moved to Sunday afternoon. We've seen first round byes. We've seen five teams in a district make the playoffs. We've seen a mandatory scheduling grid for regular season games. And we've seen rotating regions for first round games. It's just rearranging chairs on the six-class Titanic.

I'd like to see a failed conversion attempt be able to run back for two points like college.

It's just a case where schools have failed to adapt to the changing times. I get it. 30-40 years ago, middle schoolers rarely played varsity sports and if they did, it wasn't enough to letter. Times have changed. Some schools have changed their policy and some haven't.

Caldwell County is missing not having Jameer Riley on the inside. They miss his physicality inside. UHA is better than last year, and that's scary. But they still have lapses where certian players try to "get theirs" when they get a lead, and that leads to lulls. Hoptown can be a really good team come March. So can Madisonville. They are the two teams most likely to beat UHA in both the regular season and postseason.

Good stuff. Rumor has it Dunford is not playing for Union this year, which drops them a place or two. Caldwell County could be the X-factor with Boyd. Like the 8th District, a really good 7th District team will not make it to the region. Former Falcon Robbie Townsend is the new coach at Fort Campbell. If Jorden Clark is back, he is one of the most underrated players in the region.

Should be interesting. McLean averages 48 rushes a game. Ballard 40 pass attempts per game. McLean should have no trouble winning their first playoff game since 1993

Given the season UK is having, keeping Wandale in state was a must for Stoops and UK. You can't claim to be a top 10 program and lose the best players in your home state to other schools. This is a great get. Maybe it will turn the tide of in-state recruiting for UK.

It's been 43 years since a small school won the boys' state soccer title (KCD in 1975). It's been 20 years since a small school played in the championship. It's time to classify soccer folks.

Tackles are a subjective stat unlike rushing yards and touchdowns. I've known coaches give an assist if a player laid a hand on them any any point or jumped on the pile at the end. I've known coaches who only give a tackle to the first person to stop forward progress. The tackle stat is to football what the assist is to basketball and the fielding error is to baseball.

If Crittenden doesn't get cute, they should have a chance. But they tend to move the football on the ground and then decide to throw too much or run a trick play at the wrong time. They threw three picks in a game they had in control early and was running at will. Crittenden's defense is the best they have had in a while. However, they are weak in covering screens which is where Caldwell will strike. Caldwell without Trel Riley will hurt them in the secondary but Crittenden will give the other DBs chances to make picks. If Caldwell County can run the football and stop Crittenden on the ground, they should win by 10-14 points.

McLean isn't bad. They have a good mix of backs who can run the football and players who swarm to the ball on defense. A team of quick athletes across the front will give them problems. Also, their secondary can be exposed with a team that can protect their quarterback. I would have no problem ranking them in the 10-14 range of 2A.

I don't find a father's honesty refreshing when it costs his kid a chance to play basketball, or in the case of Kyky Tandy, a chance to play for the school he has always wanted to play for.
