Livingston Central to consider football program

Would be a great addition to the west end of the state, could they play in the same district as the Fulton schools

Only if they were 1A. Looking at the numbers, Livingston Central would be right on the 1A/2A cut line (not unlike Crittenden County). If below, they might be alright. If above, it would be a struggle. Very few of these new football programs at old schools (Jackson Co., Clinton Co., Pendleton Co., Brossart) have been very successful so far, though.

It is awfully difficult to start a football program. Small schools face so many obstacles in that regard...not the least of which is money.

They got plenty of money in Livingston, that will be the least problem.

That surprises me. I had never heard that Livingston was a wealthy county.

I wish them the best, but it will be a tough road for them to get it going.

Livingstons' population is sparse and widely spread across its predominantly agricultural county.

They'll fit right in with a boat load of other programs throughout our state that have been playing for years then.

If they could stay 1A (which it looks like they will be right on the fence) on a consistent basis, then they could build something...2A though will obviously be tough.

I'm sure there is someone here who could give out some numbers around starting a program.

What would the low end be and what would the high end amount be?

On the news they were saying 2.2 million to get it started, little league thru HS,

That is what I saw as well.

That is a lot of money to get a program started...I'm sure a lot of it is going to facilities along with equipment. I would think any way.

Do they have any facilities? I think I saw they don't have soccer; is there even a field in the county?

I think it is great when a school starts new programs. And yes they struggle. It take special coaches to start programs, so 1st thing that is what they need to find.

From a fan or supporter of football I would do what ever I could to help them have success. Always great to have more kids playing a great sport, learning some great life lessons!

This sounds great to me. Wonder if they will play a Jv schedule for a couple of years and then go into Varsity or Start everything the same time?
