The game has gotten so much faster at the high school level, which has caused regions to go to three man crews. Instead of two decent refs, a lot of times they will pair a bad ref with a decent crew or two bad refs with a good ref. Then, you have one ref having to overcompensate because a bad ref won't make the calls they should. It's one reason why the crews at region tournaments are better because the bad refs have been weeded out. The KHSAA has taken a huge hit in good refs in recent years because of the number opting to go the college route. They just haven't been able to replace them at the rate they are leaving. Another factor is simple. The younger generation just isn't taking an interest in becoming sports refs/umpires/officials like they did 20-25 years ago. A lot of new refs I see are in the 30-50 age group.

It seems like the KHSAA is bent on "fixing" everything except what needs to be fixed most. - Classing non-basketball sports - Reducing playoffs to district champ and runner-ups Anything and everything else is just using smoke and mirrors to deflect from the issues that should be addressed

I think it is to deflect criticism of six classes. Everytime there is a push to do away with six classes, they come up with rotating districts instead of 1v2, 3v4, etc. or now seeding the semifinals. It's done in the same way the KHSAA came up with six classes to deflect the public v private push. They will do something similar in basketball to deflect the conversation of classing.

Christian County is a bit deeper than UHA, especially with the return of Trice, which means they can afford to press UHA, especially when Crump has the ball. The UHA key is Quan Hollowell. He has to stay out of foul trouble and stay on the floor for UHA to give help to Tandy. The Christian County key is Damikeon Mathis and how well he can control the tempo at point for the Colonels.

Livingston Central has everyone back from last year's team, including an experienced backcourt. Webster is very good but lost their point guard in the preseason to an ACL injury. Caldwell County is the sleeper of the region. They are playing well right now.

Hoptown was losing by 15 points with him on the floor. Bowling Green got too many good looks at the basket and Hoptown had no answer for Jarius Key

Hoptown is now, even with Cager out. I think UHA is number two. However, if Trice comes back that may give Christian County a slight edge over UHA. Madisonville is slightly ahead of all three Sixth District teams. There is a good chance that Henderson County and either Hoptown/UHA/Christian County get left at home come region tourney time

Union County is grossly underranked. They are a top 7 team in the region with the players they have back. And I think UHA is the second best team in the region. Tandy's supporting cast at UHA is better than Ware's at Christian County.

Bowling Green shot 54% from the field and Hopkinsville did not. Jalen Johnson did not play most of the second half (knee) but that was no factor in the game. Depends on the region. If you are a small school in the First or Second Region for basketball, you will continually have to get through the likes of Marshall, McCracken, Christian County, or Henderson County just to sniff a state tournament. Crittenden County was one win away from making the state semifinals in football. Obviously the answer is football

Christian County is a top 20 team. Everyone back from a 17-win season including a 6-3 center that is drawing division one looks.

Freshman KJ Crump is the point guard. Quick kid and able to beat the press. Drew McGowan plays the small forward and can be a double-figure scorer. Kwun Dorsey is a transfer from Clarksville that scored 10 points in their scrimmage win. Do they go 10 strong off the bench? No. But two years ago it was Tandy and Tray Hollowell and little else. McGowan is going to be the X-factor for this team when others try to limit Tandy and Quan Hollowell

UHA is a top 20 team. They are deeper than they have been in several years. I think they are the second best team in the Second Region and the top team if Cager and Johnson aren't allowed to play. I agree on CHristian County at this point. They have some depth issues

Cager is suspended but is apparently appealing a punishment from last year that has him out until February. Johnson was held out of Hoptown's last scrimmage and may still be waiting for an official eligibility ruling. Union County is a top 7 team with two double-digit scorers who quit the team last year returning. I think UHA has their deepest team in several years and is right now the second best team in the region. Solid list of top players in the preview.

I've known schools to use two filmers. One shot at an angle so wide that the tops of the lights on the other side of the field were visible. Another long-time WKY coach used to edit out all kicking plays. The rule doesn't say the film has to be Spielberg quality. I know a coach who traded enough film over a five year period that he could get any game film of a playoff opponent he wanted just as a "reward" for being a coach who trades film. I remember Bellevue's coach refused to trade film with Fort Campbell's Marshall Patterson ahead of the 1976 state championship game. That didn't sit well with Patterson, whose Falcons won 22-0.
