The Prestonsburg USA Today article has me thinking:

What story lines from Kentucky High School Football History do you think was captivating enough it could make a great book or movie?

For Me:

1. The Trinity vs. Male game with Brohm vs. Bush. Perhaps the greatest game in Kentucky Finals History with two of it's biggest stars and biggest programs.

2. The '93 season where the Pburg article came from, I think it could have been even better as a book with three storylines involved. Obviously the Pburg side as the article focused on and the whole 'Hoosiers" feel. Danville's side would have been the tell of one of the best small school teams in KY HIstory with the pressure of a winning streak falling short of expectations. Finally, a view from the Mayfield side as the big name program having a perceived underachieving year and then turning it around to win the Title against all odds.

3. Finally, IMHO, the perfect made for movie script would be the Belfry and Louisville Central 2016 season.

The dichotomy of two programs from different worlds in Kentucky and two coaches from different worlds diverging for the State Finals. In a year where the election and political/social events shifted the dynamic of the country you had the greatest Senior class of players to ever come out of Eastern Kentucky and their "over achieving" nemesis meet in what would be Scroggins' last game as HC.

Amid all the turmoil, uncertainty, and division the country was experiencing at that time, those two schools showed the utmost of respect and even prayed together after the game holding hands in a moment that was symbolic of how the world should work.

I’d like to see a documentary on the 2009 Paducah Tilghman team that went 4-6 and was third place in the district (including a 28-6 loss to McLean County) and rebounded to win the 3A state title. As I remember, there were some behind the scenes happenings that would have made for some good drama.

MMI-19, Bryan Station-6. 1968 BS homecoming dressing 110 players and ranked #1 in state with QB Doug Flynn, MLB Frank Lemaster, WR Harry Sykes, Jr. and 6 other D1 signors vs. 19 players on the MMI squad (only two went on to play at small colleges). MMI (smallest class) held BS (largest class) to -2 yards of offense in the 2nd half in the biggest upset in the state for many years before 6 class days. Doug Flynn probably doesn't like to talk much about this " classic" beatdown. Old coaches from that era remember things like this.

Was Pumphries the coach then? He was a good one.

That's a cool pull right there!

What would that compare to nowadays? Frederick Douglass losing to Paris?

Tim Couch's final two years of high school -- both football and basketball -- and the subsequent media circus that followed him

Another good one.

I remember sitting in the baseball field after both Belfry vs. Leslie County games his Senior Year and waiting over an hour to leave the parking area.

I think it is also a good commentary on how recruiting and the exposure to recruiting has changed in modern times with highlight videos, live game broadcasts, etc.

Back then you would drive 2.5-3 hours to see that player everyone wanted. I remember packing up to go see Randy Moss play at DuPont, WV. Nowadays either you catch them on TV or the internet or watch their highlights.

Boyle County going from the bottom to the top for 5 consecutive state championships (99-03) including 6 consecutive trips to the state championship (99-04). Chuck Smith and those runs made the program what it is today.

I would have loved to grow up in those times.

2002 Webster County. They lost their head coach from the previous year to a heart attack, very tragic death. New coach comes in and corrals the troops to a 12-2 record and an appearance in the state semi finals were they lost by one score to Corbin I believe.
