Scientists who search for extraterrestrial civilizations are scrambling to get a look
If we could send a message to these folks at near the speed of light, and they responded right away, we're still talking three millennia. In other words, the first message goes out when King David ruled Israel (1000 B.C.) and the answer arrives in 2015.

Scientists who search for extraterrestrial civilizations are scrambling to get a look
To expand on your thoughts ... back in the '60s-'70s, some people linked increased sightings of UFOs with humankind's exploding of atomic bomb. In other words, someone took notice of the planet when we discovered the A-bomb.

Scientists who search for extraterrestrial civilizations are scrambling to get a look
If they were not benevolent, we would have thousands of years to prepare for the invasion and develop laser zappers. The more interesting question is how would communication take place given the constraints of time and the speed of light, as well as the problem of discovering shared language symbols -- assuming the alien civilization even uses this form of communication.

Does Holy Cross Charge Visiting Team Fans More?
You are correct about the pre-game "music" being offensive. Volume more so than lyrics.

Scott 56 Covington Holy Cross 39
Scott had seven touchdowns and seven 2-point conversions.

Scott/Holy Cross (Covington) Updates
A highly entertaining game. Scott scored 40 second-half points. Did Scott go 7 for 7 on 2-point conversions? I know they were 5 for 5 in second half.

Scott/Holy Cross (Covington) Updates
Halftime: HC 22, Scott 16.

Holmes 15 Walton-Verona 14
Heard Holmes won it late. Score was 7-7 midway through 4th quarter.

Holy Cross 24 Holmes 20
Holmes had 25 boys in uniform tonight, or as my old high school coach used to say, "in costume" -- 11 on field and 14 on the sideline. Still, Bulldogs hung tough after falling behind 14-0 on first two Holy Cross possessions. Indians scored winning TD with about 6 minutes to play in game. Arnold and Abernathy are both nice running backs.

Did the Holmes Bulldogs have a successful season?
Yes. Definitely a successful season. I've been following the Bulldogs for many years. I think Coach L and his assistants did a quality job in getting the most out of this team, especially this past week.

Holmes 56 Dixie Heights 55 (9th Region SemiFinal)
I think your assessment of the play is accurate. (I had a good view of the play from the upper deck.) My first thought was that the ref thought that Rabe never had established control of the ball before he stepped out of bounds ... while the ball remained bouncing on the court ... so when he made contact with the ball a second time, that was when possession occurred. But, yes, he definitely had loose control of the ball, stepped out of bounds while not in possession of the ball, then headed to the hoop with the ball. I have no idea what the rule is in this situation.

Holmes 56 Dixie Heights 55 (9th Region SemiFinal)
My buddy pointed out that Coach L used his timeouts wisely tonight. When Dixie got on a bit of a run, a T/O frequently kept a 3-point deficit from becoming a 7-point deficit.

I believe a potential 1 vs. 3 matchup in second round.

9th Regional Final - Holmes vs Holy Cross Predictions (3/8)
What does Holmes do different in game 3? Do they go stall ball if Holy Cross sits in its tight zone? More full-court pressing? Do they go with a bigger or smaller lineup? Or does Holmes do nothing different and just hope for a better outcome?

9th Region Semi-Finals HHS v HC
In the regional games I've seen at NKU, teams that embrace the trey don't shoot it so well in a gym this size. I look for HC to slow the pace and methodically pound the ball inside. The second Holmes game was not a fluke. Holy Cross 52-40.

Do you believe there is other intelligent life in the Universe?
There might be other intelligent life in the universe, but mankind likely never will know because of distance enormities.

What 9th region draw would you like to see?
I wouldn't want to play Holmes right after they are coming off an embarrassing loss. I would also argue that playing on a different, longer NKU floor in the eight-team regional probably benefits Holmes' game, too. Having said that, Holy Cross is 4 to 20 points better than everyone else.

Holmes 59 Notre Dame 40
Nice job, as always. Did you shoot any of when Holmes bench/coach got T'd up ... believe in third quarter?

Holy Cross v Holmes 35th District Championship Predictions
Same score as first time. HC is a tough match-up for Holmes.

Holmes 59 Notre Dame 40
There was a free throw contest at Holmes tonight and a basketball game broke out. Or so it seemed. Believe the Pandas closed to within about 8 midway through 4th quarter but Bulldogs hit their free throws down the stretch. Pandas handled Holmes' press better this game than first game but struggled to find offensive rhythm, especially in 2nd and 3rd quarters.

NKY Basketball final poll
The larger problem is that no one on the Enqy sports desk is weeding out these frivolous ballots. Possibly because there is no NKY Enqy sports desk anymore.
