Lawnboy13 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 WOW WOW WOW, that was a fun game to watch. Fell bad for Austin Schreck.
MJAlltheWay24 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Buddy and I kept saying if they cross McClenndon over too many times, eventually he's going to get one. Great game. Really enjoyed it.
Mustang Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Great game! Both the 9th ad 10th have district finals rematches that were both bloodbaths. Scott will be asked to make up 44 points, Holmes 27. Nothing in either tournament surprises me anymore.
Bengal Maniac Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Pretty sluggish start where neither team seemed to fins a rhythm. If either would have been hot, they could have gone up 10-15. However, I don't think it was ever more than a 5 point lead for either. Having seen Dixie a few times, i felt their weakness was not handling pressure well. Holmes really pressured them tonight and they turned it over some. Schreck played really well for the Colonels, regardless, of the last play. Holmes did not shoot well in the paint. Arnold, Moore and Avery had good looks at five feet or so and couldn't buy one. Coach L tried them all and Arnod finally got a few in the 4th. Dixie's 2-3 zone was guarding the threes by McClendon and Bolden and the paint was wide open. I thought Englemon's play was the difference. He made a couple of threes and played more than half the game due to Mullins strapped with fouls. These games aren't easy in the region and Holmes had just enough to win. Dixie held the ball for over a minute with the score tied. They cleared it out for Schreck to go one on one, which he had successfully all night. McClendon just picked him with a great defensive play. I like Lawnboy felt bad for Schreck, but I was happy with the win. I was sitting at the game and noticed the guy beside me on BGP. At half, I asked if he was a member and it was TAC. It was great to meet him and talk a few minutes. I don't know who says he gets special seating at games, not tonight!
nkuclubbaseball19 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Congratulations to the Holmes Bulldogs, the coaches, Walter and all the fans. Best of luck tomorrow in your pursuit of the regional title. As for the Dixie Heights Colonels, keep your heads up. You guys had a great season and this loss won't change that. You did better than most everyone thought you would. To the seniors: thank you for the past few years. You all led the program the way that it should be run. The school, team, fans and community have been lucky to have you guys represent the program. I wish you all the best in your futures and whatever endeavors you partake in. Do not let one shot, one play, one game define your career. All of you have had great careers and have made numerous contributions to the program. Thank you from this Dixie fan.
Qryche11 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 In the end every team should be disappointed unless you win the Region. Great season Colonels they showed they can perform without the likes of one Brandon Hatton. Although I wonder if he would've made a difference tonight.
Clyde Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Glad to see James Bolden being a leader tonight. Small things but there were times his teammates did some knucklehead stuff that he got on them about.
Northside Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Very good game by two good teams but the coaching in the last minute by Dixie left many fans including myself shaking their heads, unless I'm mistaken Dixie had a timeout, it is so hard for high school kids to hold the ball against a quick guards like holmes for 45+seconds, holmes almost stole the ball several times. Why not call a time out sometime during that span make sure you get the play you want with at least some movement, high pick roll etc. instead of having a kid hold the ball trying to go one on one against a very good defender.

Small things but there were times his teammates did some knucklehead stuff that he got on them about. Not a great offensive performance by Bolden, but as you said, he just didn't shoot it much. I thought he'd try and take over the game last, but he really didn't. He played solid defense, though and kept the guys heads in the game. Arnold was getting frustrated at times because he just couldn't get much to fall and Beetle kept encouraging him and feeding him. He has to to score tomorrow night for them to win.

No need for a timeout. Chev had exactly what he wanted. Schreck with the ball one-on-one with the other 4 spread out. Schreck had a lot of success penetrating tonight. Zero issues with Chevy's logic. Why take a TO when you have what you want? You risk not getting the ball back to Schreck.

I had him with 4 shots in the first half (not counting the halfcourt heave) and 4 in the 2nd half.
