I have video of the last possession by Dixie if I can figure out how to post it I will. That being said not sure what Dixies plan was waiting so long in my opinion Moore and Schreck where getting to the basket all night long beating Holmes guards off the bounce causing Avery to have to hedge over and help giving Dixie easy put backs all night, why not do the same thing at around .30 and take your chance on defense hoping Holmes forces a 3? Rather get beat on a big time shot on a big time stage then a turnover.

Is that 3 seconds or 30 seconds? If 3, then I believe that is exactly what they were trying to do.

Young = high school to me. And sometimes college.

I say that to whoever is sitting next to me at high school games almost every time. RARELY does a high school team get a good shot. I agree 1000% - work for a good shot and take it when it is available.

I never said I wouldn't go. I just said I'm not a fan and the 2nd game was an example. It was the quietest semi-final game I can recall.

Well I am sure the thinking was we will hold for the last shot because we will either win or at worst go to overtime. The last thing you expect is one of your best players to get his pocket picked for the first time all night with under 10 seconds to go.

As I sorta stated above I would rather lose on a last second shot on a big stage in a big game then the way Dixie lost last night. Regardless of being the best player on the court or not I would take my chances of my defense stepping up with having the momentum after taking the lead with what would have been under .30 left in the game making bolden take a highly contested 3 to win it. Heck if I was the coach honestly I would have shut off the 3 point line and if you give up a 2 no problem your still playing having a shot at controlling your fait. Like i stated earlier Dixie was getting to the rim all night long so anything could have happened in ot if they would have got there.

Basketball analytics experts like the folks at krossover.com have demonstrated for some time that college and professional players'/teams' shooting percentages are significantly higher early in the clock. Though it's not a gimme, this does suggest that when a high-school team holds the ball way beyond the typical college shot-clock limit, their odds are growing worse by the second. I'm sure there are multiple factors involved, but it's just a thought

I honestly was surprised Holmes didn't try some zone the way they were getting beat off the dribble.

 

If you're a coach and your best player is iso'd for the last shot, you can live with the results.

Great season for Dixie, not many people believed they were capable of success after losing Hatton. I would just like to say imagine the possibilities if it had not been the Brandon Hatton show for two years prior. Hatton was a special high school player, but if they had developed a team chemistry with him; there is no telling what they could have accomplished. Schreck is a great player that never got the credit he deserved. Also Bolin and Hedger seemed to develop since their freshman year. They grew every year as players. Hats off to those young men. Moreover, Rabe become a good high school player and it was great to see his handwork pay off.

I just think that was an ill-advised shot. He was out of control. I was at that end and didn't look like much to me. He made up for it big time, though.

Agreed, no foul .... on most nights. In that game the way the refs called it, that should have been a foul to stay consistent with how they called the game.

I must say, Bengal Maniac watched the same game as me. Even prior to meeting each other after we had sat a game and a half next to each other his observations of the game were spot on. We had a couple of Holmes 'refs' right behind us. But I could see BM shaking his head agreeing with the calls or with the players making a wrong or right decision. His posts on this thread have been spot on. Though he wears Red tinted glasses he has a pretty accurate account of the game.
