Wright and his co-authors say the unusual star’s light pattern is consistent with a “swarm of megastructures,” perhaps stellar-light collectors, technology designed to catch energy from the star.

 

“When [boyajian] showed me the data, I was fascinated by how crazy it looked,” Wright told me. “Aliens should always be the very last hypothesis you consider, but this looked like something you would expect an alien civilization to build.”

What if this is some group of huge space stations, satellites, factory platforms, and dockyards they are seeing pass in front of the star? How fast can we get there? Are they derelicts from the past or still a living civilization?

If they were not benevolent, we would have thousands of years to prepare for the invasion and develop laser zappers. The more interesting question is how would communication take place given the constraints of time and the speed of light, as well as the problem of discovering shared language symbols -- assuming the alien civilization even uses this form of communication.

I am still talking about two different functions. On one hand we have the communication issue/barriers with civilizations far far away...

 

On the other hand, I maintain Aliens visit Earth all the time and choose to remain hidden from us. My loose thinking is we will make some type of scientific breakthrough that will "cause" some Aliens to reveal themselves. Just think, playing loose with a loaded particle accelerator and some liberal Aliens put the brakes on us. LOL
