That's about the dumbest statement I've ever heard from a DI football coach. How can you put trust into every HS Coaches word, when more than often the HS Coach has his own agenda and it's not to get kids into college level football. I've seen HS coaches sweep kids under the rug in order to promote a kid form a friendship with the parents or because the kid has relatives in college coaching positions. Not" every" HS Coach and HS Player have Kosher relationships, and the coach just may not have anything good to say about the player because he can't swallow his own ego. Yet that player still performs for that coach at a top level athletically. Maybe Urban could start talking to the teachers, pastors and community leaders about his recruits. Thanks for the heads up Urb, we'll save our money and not attend any camps you host.

You can have all the D1 offers in the world! That doesn't make you the best player in a district, region, or state. It simply says you have what a few D1 schools are looking for. It's a great honor, but don't don't get it twisted as that person is the "best". The best is shown from game week 1 to end of season by on field performance...plain and simple, not a pre-season poll. But it is good to have an opinion; to each his own.

NFL Players Association - Elliott, Ferrell Agent Profile He's been in the game for quite a while so he has some good contacts with NFL Scouts. Currently I think he has a few players in the league, and some in Canada. Very respectable and honest agent. He doesn't carry too many players so his financial backing may not be up there with the top 50 agents, but if thinks you have potential, he'll do what he can to help assist.

The answer is yes. I'm just a believer that if you need to focus on the type of football you have in order to play better, then you may have lost focus. I don't want to be on the field listening to kids say "coach I can't catch, kick or throw this type of football, can we use the other one?" Creates room for excuses from players and coaches. If having a certain ball is what makes your players perform better, then invest away at them! I'd rather focus on the fundamentals of proper catching and throwing techniques.

It is limited when the individual schools can make that decision. If they have the ability to do have special circumstances, they should play within the teams that share those same advantages.

Too many people like to live in stats and media. The Brown/Hendrix threat was by far the top duel threat last year. If anyone thinks #8 was not the top receiver last year year regardless of single game performance is simply blinded by jealousy. If Cooper has a qb that can replace Brown's ability next year, it only gets worse for anyone trying to cover him. Hendrix will probably grow more, get quicker and stronger. The kids ability to get in and out of routes is what has separated him from most. Hands down #1 to start the season.

I'm pretty sure you can't live in Ohio and play for any non-private Boone County school. Or maybe I'm missing something, because I would have happily driven a 6'8" athletically basketball smart kid from Ohio to play under Coach Sullivan this year.

Great fought game by both teams. From the other update thread, the last call was a foul, and it was a foul, the question was, did time run out before the foul was called, 0.0 on the clock when the whistle blew and clock stopped. Refs got together and decided that is was a foul before time ran out (no way any of them knew that for sure) and sent the player to the line to shoot two, adding 1.0 second on the clock. Scott went up to the line and everyone was yelling that he wasn't the player who was fouled, which, he wasn't, Garnett was the player fouled. If Scott had gone to the line and received the ball to shoot the free throws, that would be a technical on Conner. It all got figured out and Garnett made 1 of 2 FTs to win by 1. Again, great played, intense game by both teams. They left it all on the court, all of them. Dante is going to see if his wrist got broken early in the 4th, taped it up and came back in, but you could tell he was hurting, hope he is OK, great kid. Definitely missed Sean, Adam and partial Dante tonight. Onward and upward, focus on next week and getting healthy.

They have been without Sean for several weeks now and it has really enabled the other players to step up and contribute in a way that they don't when Sean is there and they can lean on him. And, they have been winning those games. Even though an off night against CC (they did look off) I think it will make them a stronger, deeper team once districts and region roll around and Sean is back.

Very well said. No ill will taken. But if you look at majority of the area high school boys that continue on to different levels of college play in the past few years, I think Cooper sits at the back maybe next to Boone. Cooper has been winning decently for the past few years, so win/loss is not a factor in my eyes. I listened to them for years and could tell when and why they began to lose the interest. The kids I know have been to the camps and had the recruiting process explained to them and I have explained to many parents, what it's all about as well. A Head Coach will only do what he wants to do because his time may be limited with other task and the focus on the next season. Since being here I have followed many boys up to and through their high school years and communicating with them and their parents on regular basis, I know they had hopes to go on to the next level. I personally had a 2 year intermission from football before going on to play college ball so it's not too late, and once they hit the college campus maybe they'll get that desire back. Either way, I'm always going to be a communication piece for them as much as I can. And a revolving door does not work for a small new school like Cooper, (it's a 2 way communication process) that's why I tell the parents they have to be forceful and get highlights and interest out to the schools. But then again many colleges don't listen to parents and those youtube videos and hudl links from mom's/dad's email account never get looked at. I personally like the high schools that have certified strength coaches and recruiting coordinators that can push that information out to the colleges with a legitimate name behind it. Ryle and SK had good success with a few boys going on to play this year, I'd like to know their process or connections.

Watched many NKY kids compete against Cinci boys at camps at at several DIII, DII and DI camps. Even when the NKY boys had a better camp performance, the attention was not directed towards them. It's not a lie or false assumption, it's the truth. Good example was D Hendrix lighting up the Miami Redhawks camp making db's look lost with his routes and even after the camp, the coaches were all over a St X db that he burnt continuously. UC, and Mt St Joe camp was no different. There was a NKY sophomore receiver and sr qb that tore it up and they were all up in a Colerain and Aiken receivers face after the camp. It is what it is.

And that whole "Interest" thing is whole new topic. How do you lose something you've loved doing since pee wee football once you play in high school. I know there's many answers to that, but too many Jaguars from the past that I have talked to have explained to me where they lost lost that desire, and it is a shame.

Cooper has had several athletes that could play somewhere at next level and quite a few winning seasons with very few kids going on to the next level. Watson, Brown, TCA, Michaels, Pavek (size alone), all should have had some DIII, DII, NAIA, JUCO interest. But basically nothing from what I have heard. Brown did have roster spots at a few DIII schools that were just too far away from home for DIII ball, but his plan is to train right after basketball, gain size, and find a spot somewhere on the EKU roster. Would love to see more of these boys continue to play.

Rohlman was 11 for 11 at the free throw line vs Ryle, he's been a difference maker in their past two wins. Great to see the other players stepping up while Sean is out, will only make the team stronger when he is able to return.

With all the DI hype I hear on here, I think this is a great choice for Dillon. He has a chance to get his college degree and will more than likely be an immediate impact for the program at Wayne. College education alone is a lot of work and it's so much more rewarding to be playing in the game than waiting on the sideline. Good choice and I wish him the best of luck!

I will bow down to your basketball professionalism, as I am a football guy. All I am saying is the same shots he took last night, he made against Cooper, so maybe he is confident in making the shots he took. Sometime you have to fade away to shoot, sometimes you're going to have a hand in your face, it's basketball, not every shot is a wide open layup or jumper. Basketball 102

Nathan Brown (Cooper QB) has been accepted at EKU and will try to walk on. He also has an official visit to DII Alderson Broaddus in West Virginia later this month.
