I heard the young sophomore's names being called quite a lot on defense tonight. All I can say is keep working hard Jags. I also noticed Powell leaving the field on crutches......any word?

I don't know how long you've been around here, but this is how Randy runs his team. He has always said the best 11 will play. Me personally, I don't care what grade the kid is in, if he can spare a starter a breather for a series or a few plays, then use them. You can't tell me that out of all those kids, you can't find more than 3 or 4 to run in and out to prevent exhaustion. I'm not a disgruntled parent because I don't need a high school football team to get my kid where he needs or wants to be. When he's ready to play, he will be out there. I do think the staff should continue to develop "sideline" players with their schemes throughout the season and not simply use them just for scout offense and defense once the season starts. If you were familiar with this program, you would know that's why several kids don't return year after year. They get tired of putting in the work, and standing on the sideline while the very few play a complete game, and these are kids that could develop into good players. Trust me, the talent drop off is not that far. If a sophomore outperforms a junior or even a senior, they should be on the field, if the seniors mommy and daddy don't like it.....tough. What I have been seeing on the field is not a best effort from a few of the players that are seniors, if it is their best effort, then the jags are in for a long ride this year. I agree, Randy did an excellent job with that group of kids he had last year, but this is a different year with different types of talent. Lastly, I think I have enough football knowledge to question some coaching decisions, however, I would never tell a head coach how to run his team or make any suggestions unless I was on the staff or he asked me personally. I'm not JUST a fan, so I will never sit back and agree with everything that's done on or off the field. I want those boys to WIN!

Can anyone tell me if Cooper ever came out of the defense that was getting abused by the Camels run game? I didn't see a change, but I could be wrong.

Just when I thought I would never agree with anything you say, I find myself saying you are right on here. Cooper can not continue to play the same 14 to 15 kids for four quarters and expect to be alive for a fourth quarter flurry. The boys up front are just too gasses and the lone running back who also plays ML has lost more than just a step by that time. If the jags can jump on SK early and hold on, they have a better chance.

The Camels flat out ran over the Jags, so good job on the field. However, the Camels after game antics was unnecessary and they should learn to win with class. Nothing wrong with singing your fight song, but bad choice on location. I'm sure the Jags will remember that next year.

This is a good sign considering these guys get very little reps for opponent preparation throughout the week. There's talent on that JV squad that should be used to give the Varsity boys a break on a play or two here and there. But that's another story..

Just my opinion, but you need an explosive QB to have an explosive offense. Cooper is missing the QB run threat they had last year, and need to adjust for that. The 15 players that they do play will definitely need to stay healthy, because after season starts, that's who they focus on in their practices. Getting the reps will make them all better, so it's a wait and see game with this squad, especially the young lineman.

If Ludwig goes both was as he did against Ryle, Cooper may be in trouble. Nothing against the kid, but he's not lightening quick, and after playing 2 to 3 quarters on both sides of the ball his performance/speed in the 4th will diminish , and that's when he needs to be completely focused. Staff needs to start having a little more faith in some of the younger players that can step in to help out. IMO Cooper also needs to utilize Youngblood a little more and not wait until last minutes of the game. If I'm coaching, there's no way that kid is on the sideline on 3rd down situations. I noticed that at the Ryle game and I was scratching my head. But who am I? Gotta role with coaches decisions. Go Jags!

You are correct Clyde. Not to put him in anyone's shadow, but he is the younger brother of the talented Varsity player Aaron Morgan. The Hendrix kid missed some major practice time due to a severe injury, but seems to be on the way back to full strength.

Total hearsay! When Cooper first opened, a majority of the athletes were trying to stay away from Cooper because of the initial startup in 6A with such a small set of young athletes. So, were these kids you are referring to as using Aunts, Uncles and Grannies addresses doing this to be just in the school for academics or the band? I don't know of any that used fake addresses and played on any of the main sports teams at Cooper and I had a very close relationship with the program.

I think they are jumping on the chance to show Barker vs Northern Kentucky's 5A State runner up team that was built from the ground up in 5 years.

Cooper had a freshman QB that could be an unknown. If he matures a little and stays healthy, he will be connecting with some of the upperclass receivers at Cooper and surprise some people that don't already know him.

So you're saying you watched all of both freshman and JV games and saw no talent? Or did you just watch one of the two and assume there's no talent from either. Or are you a disgruntled parent (no offense meant)? Your opinion is fine, but I'm sure many others would say inaccurate, and I am hoping opposing coaches are thinking the same thing as far as no talent.

You are truly sleeping on the talent of some of the JV and frosh players, or you just never watched them play.

The good thing about the guys that coach BJ in BCPWFL is that they coach knowing that kids are not perfect and often are under a lot of pressure through academics and athletics. These guys do their best to coach the kids be great young men academically first and then focus on athletics. So I could see Brandon wanting to fall back on those guys that taught him at a young age, but trust me saying Brandon is a hard worker for the correct staff. For those of you saying that Brandon is disrespectful to his current staff, know that the kid has been taught how to respect and could be just going through a difficult time. I see him succeeding wherever he winds up. High school coaches aren't just running programs, they should be trying to develop young men, and all young men don't respond the same.

Coming to conclusions from commentary and not facts really puts this to rest.

I went to quite a few games this year, and they we pretty bad. "Knotthole Style".

I have no idea what you're referring to with "run because things are tough", so I'll let you live in that statement alone. And as a coach, I hope you don't prevent your athletes from making choices and exploring their options that best suit them. This is a "free world", let's move on and wish the kid best of luck wherever he lands, which could be still at Holmes; making all this a mute point.

Since you're replying to my post, show me where I have made an excuse for them. My knowledge of the boys is from experiences with them, not hearsay. No one ever said Johnson wasn't meeting expectations either. People wish to stand on the pulpit and say what should be about these kids when they have no clue. Johnson and Moss are to big, and gifted athletes that will have many options in their future with the right guidance, and won't need excuses. They should do what's right for them and makes them happy. Not getting along with a high school coach is acceptable whether people like it or not, and if you have an option, use it. How many college athletes change schools because of the coach? I believe quite a few do, and they still succeed. Would you continue to work for an individual you didn't like if you knew you had other opportunities? If so, why?

Can ejections be appealed? I was not there, but sounds like the umpire got this one wrong. I hate to see kids penalized to that extent by incompetent umpiring.
